    THIELKE - Norman R. Thielke,
    71, of Gaithersburg, Md., formerly
    of North Tonawanda, Wednesday
    (August 7,1985). Mr. Thielke was a
    member, president and elder of the
    Calvary Lutheran Church, Silver
    Spring, Md. and former member
    and president of the Mesia Lutheran
    Church, Fairview Park, Ohio. He
    was active in the Church Walther
    League at St. Matthew Lutheran
    Church in No. Tonawanda and was
    active in the American Field
    Service. Graduated from No. Tonawanda
    High School in 1931, received
    his B.S. from Cornell University 1935
    and bis M.S. from Perm State University
    in 1963. He was a retired
    chemist for the U.S. Dept. of
    Energy.
    Mr. Thielke is survived by his wife
    Lucille (nee Knoell) Thielke; two
    sons, Paul A. and Alan G. Thielke;
    four daughters, Mrs. Robert
    (Elaine) Steinbach, Mrs. Greg
    (Ann) Busby, Miss Phyllis Thielke
    and Miss Laura Thielke; one
    brother Donald (Phyllis) Thielke;
    two grandchildren, Rebecca and
    Katherine Steinbach; his motherin-
    law, Mrs. Elsie Knoell.
    No prior visitation. Graveside
    services will be held Monday at 1:00
    p.m. in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery.

    be made to the American Cancer
    Society or Calvary Lutheran

    John C. Thielke, 85, a resident
    of 279 Payne, avenue for many
    years and a former alderman in
    North Tonawanda, died this morning
    in the Meyer Memorial hospital,
    Buffalo, after an illness of
    several weeks. In recent»years
    he had been superintendent of
    the Haeberle Lumber company of
    Niagara Falls. Prior to assuming
    the position at the Falls he was
    employed as superintendent of the
    Knoell Lumber company in Tonawanda.
    He was a member of
    the St. Matthew's Lutheran
    church.
    Mr. Thielke was born in Germany
    and had resided in North
    Tonawanda more than 60 years.
    He is survived by two daughters,
    Mrs. Eleanor L. Fries of Buffalo
    and Mrs. Owen B. Blackmore of
    North Tonawanda, five grandchildren
    and two great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at
    3:30 p. m. Sunday from the Hamp
    Funeral Home, 37 Adam street.
    The Rev. Carl Frankenstein will
    officiate. Burial will be in St.
    Matthew's cemetery.

    Mrs. Mary Thielke, 78, died last
    night at her home, 398 Payne avenue,
    after a prolonged illness. A
    life-long resident of North Tonawanda,
    she was a charter member
    of the St. Matthew's Evangelical
    Lutheran church on Wheatfield
    street and a member of the
    Lsdies' Aid society of the church.
    Surviving are her husband, John
    C; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur G.
    Fries and Mrs. Owen Blackmore
    of North Tonawanda; fi^e grandchildren,
    one great grandchild and
    a sister, Mrs. Rose Fritz of Worth
    Tonawanda. Rites will be held

    Notes:

    Doebler, Charles G., Wheatfield, was born in Germany in 1856, and came to America in 1967, with his parents and only brother. They settled in Niagara county and began farming, in which occupation Charles G. was reared. After following different occupations interspersed with farming, he finally went into a planing mill of the Export Lumber Company in 1882. He was subsequently employed with A. M. Dodge & County, and in 1888 formed a partnership with Mr. W. W. Robertson. (An outline of this business will be found in the article headed W. W. Robertson.) Mr. Doebler married Elizabeth Lang of Buffalo, and they have five children: Charles, Rosa, Alfred, Herman and Hulda. His parents were Louis and Dora Doebler, both deceased, as is also his brother William. referred to above. Mr. Doebler is a prominent Republican, and a trustee of St. Matthew's church.

    MRS. ELIZABETH DOEBLER
    Mrs. Elizabeth Doebler, 78, wife of the late Charles G. Doebler, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Thielke, 276 Wheatfield street. Her death followed a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, Mrs. Doebler had resided in North Tonawanda the past 59 years. She was a member of St. Matthew's church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thielke; a son, Martin C. of Tonawanda; nine grandchildren; a brother, Fred Lang of North Tonawanda, and three sisters, Mrs. Freda Indermauer of New London, Conn., Mrs. William VanNetter and Mrs. Cornelius Hanes of Buffalo. Rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Thielke residence. The Rev. Carl Frankenstein will officiate and interment will be in Elmlawn.
