    WILSON — Raymond R. Thilk, of Wilson, July 16, 2013, with his family at his side, while under Niagara Hospice care. Born March 19, 1920, he was a son of the late Herman and Hazel (Woodcock) Thilk.

    Growing up he worked the family farm with his father, attended local schools and was a member of the Methodist Church on Chestnut Road, then Exley United Methodist in Wilson.

    Raymond liked to hunt deer and pheasant. He also enjoyed playing baseball for the North Ridge team.

    He worked at Sears & Roebuck, Harrison and was the owner of Ray Thilk Sales and Service. Raymond was one of seven original founding members of the South Wilson Volunteer Fire Company of which he was lieutenant for 12 years. They would hold the fire company meetings at Thilk Sales and Service in the garage. He also played in the legion band bass drum or cymbals.

    Raymond liked to play cards, enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

    Surviving him are a daughter, Karen (James) Jowly of Wilson; son, Robert (Sue) Thilk, Sr. of Wilson; four grandchildren, Heather Jowly of Wilson, Robert (Melissa) Thilk, Jr. of South Carolina, Joseph (Laura) Jowly of Niagara Falls, and Ashley Thilk of Buffalo; and a great granddaughter, Emma Jowly of Niagara Falls. Raymond is also survived by a brother, Merritt (Marion) Thilk of Wilson; a brother-in-law, Robert (Loretta) Hahn of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing him was his wife, Rosemary (Hahn) Thilk, on December 7, 1999.

    Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the South Wilson Fire Company where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM, followed by burial in North Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Wilson Fire Company. Arrangements by Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson.

    pretty wedding took place Saturday
    afternoon, December 19 at 3 o'clock
    In the East Wilson Methodist
    church. Chestnut road.when the
    Rev Charles W Taylor united in
    marriage at a double ring cere-
    mony, Miss Rosemary Dorothea
    Hahn, daughter of Mrs. Clara
    Hahn of Lockport and Mr. Ray-
    mond R. Thilk, son of Mr. and Mrs.
    Herman Thilk, of Chestsnut road
    East Wilson.
    The church was beautiful with
    decorations of evergreens large
    bowls of red roses cathedral can-
    dles and illuminated cross. Preced-
    ing the ceremony Mrs. Winifred
    Groan, pianist, played the wedding
    music and mrs. Violet Wrinklesas
    sang, "Always" and "Because".
    The bride who was given in mar-
    riage by her uncle, William Rosen-
    busch, of Buffalo, was lovely in a
    gown of white satin made with full
    skirt gathered at the waist and fall-
    ing in a long train in the back. The
    bodice, buttoned in the back to the
    waist, was fashioned with a sweet-
    heart neckline outlined by seed
    pearls with long pointed sleeves and
    slippers to match. Her finger-tip
    illusion veil was caught with a halo
    or orange blossoms set in pearls and
    she carried a bridies bouquet of
    white gardenias and pom poms and
    wore a cross of small pearls on a
    gold chain and pearl earrings, the
    gift of the groom.
    Mrs. Everett R. Gurnett, of Lock-
    port, was bridesmaid and wore a
    floor lenfth gown of blue chiffon
    with full gathered skirt and right
    bodice with matching slippers. Her
    blue shoulder length illusion veil
    was caught to a halo of blue blos-
    soms and she carried a bouquet of
    yellow chrysanthemums.
    Mrs. Willis Rockwood, of War-
    ren's Corners was matron of honor
    and wore a floor length gown of
    pink chiffon with full-gathered
    skirt and slippers to match. Her
    pink shoulder-length illusion veil
    was caught to a halo of pink blos-
    soms and she carried a bouquet of
    pink chrysanthemums.
    Merritt H. Thilk, brother of the
    groom, was best man. The ushers
    were Willis Rockwood and Everett
    Gurnett. The bride presented her
    attendants with compacts and trhe
    grom gift to his attendants were tie
    clasps.
    Mrs. Hahn, mother of the bride,
    wore a gray and lavendar dress with
    black accessories and shoulder cor-
    sage of chrysanthemums and mixed
    flowers.
    Mrs. Thilk, mother of the groom,
    wore a black gown with sequins
    and red accessories with corsage of
    chrysanthemums and mixed flow-
    ers. Mrs. Maud Woodcock, grand-
    mother of the groom, wore black
    with white accessories and shoulder
    corsage of chrysanthemums and
    mixed flowers.
    After the ceremony a reception
    was held at the home of the bride
    where a buffet table was centered
    with a tiered wedding cake, topped
    with a miniature bride and groom
    fashioned in a bell.
    Following the reception, Mr. and
    Mrs. Thilk left on a trip to Toron-
    to and vicinity. The bride wore a
    white wool suit with gold accessor-
    ies and top coat of blue wool.

    The funeral of Burt Woodcock. 56
    years old, who died at his home on
    Chestnut street on Tuesday. January
    8th after an Illness of two years, will
    be held from the home on Friday afternoon
    at 200 o'clock, the Rev. M. M.
    Shaut. pastor of the Warren's Corners
    Methodist church officiating. The burial
    will be at the North Ridge cemetery.
    He was bom In Wilson and had resided
    here his entire life time. He was a
    member of Wilson I. O. O. F. and was
    highly regarded by all who knew him.
    He Is survived by his wife two daughters.
    Mrs. Herman Thilk of Chestnut
    street. Miss Gladys Woodcock, at home
    two sons, F. Willard Woodcock of Cam-
    bria and Gurney Woodcock at home,
    and four grand children.

    June 13th, 1925. at the age of

    for Mrs. Mary Jane Barrell. 89.
    were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30
    o'clock In the home of her daughter.
    Mrs. Joseph Winkley of Newfane.
    The Rev. James Wilson, officiated.
    Interment took place in
    the Corwin cemetery. Six grandsons
    acted as bearers: Harry Mason, Gurney
    Woodcock. Rollin Barrell. Harold
    Mason, Willard Woodcock and
    Donald Barrell.
    Mrs. Barrell was bom in England
    and came to United States when a
    small child with her parents, the
    late Robert and Jane Mount who
    took up their residence near Burt.
    Her husband. Theodore M. Barrell.
    Sr. passed away 25 years ago this
    month.
    She is survived by two daughters,
    Mra Maud Woodcock of East Wilson.
    Mrs. Eva Winkley of Newfane
    and two sons. Roger Barrell of the
    Coomer .and Chestnut roads and
    Theodore L Barrell of Newfane.
    Ten grandchildren and 13 great
    grand-children also survive.
