    Mr. and Mrs. Alanson C. Deuel announce
    the engagement of their
    niece. Miss Bessie E. Stevens, to Mr.
    Charles Woodward, of this city.

    Niagara Gazette - 10/22/1921

    The marriage of Miss Bessie Eloise
    Stevens, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Alanson
    C. Deuel of No. 510 Jefferson avenue,
    to Mr. Charles Woodward of No. 1635
    Whirlpool avenue, took place at
    Epiphany Episcopal church at five
    o'clock yesterday afternoon. The
    Rev. Mr. New of Waynevill, N.C.
    performed the ceremony. Miss Stev-
    ens was given in marriage by her
    uncle, Mr. Deuel.
    The bride wore a dark blue beaded
    tricotine gown with stone-marten
    fur collar and a henna colored panne
    velvet hat. Her corsage was of
    s w e e t h e a r t roses and valley lilies.
    Miss Viola Stevens of Buffalo, sis-
    ter of the bride, was maid-of-honor.
    She wore a dark brown broadcloth
    suit trimmed in beaver and a corsage
    of tea roses.
    Mr. LeRoy Stevens attended Mr.
    Woodward. The wedding march was
    played by Miss Kimball.
    Following the ceremony, a wedding
    supper was served at the country
    Club. Covers were laid for eighteen.
    Mr. and Mrs. Woodward left for an
    extended eastern motor trip. they
    will be at home after November fif-
    teenth in No. 501 Seventh street.

    Mrs. Mary Emetine, mother of
    Alanson C. Deuel, and grandmother of
    Mrs. Charles Woodward of this city,
    died yesterday afternoon at her home,
    No. 342 Bryant street, Buffalo, after
    brief illness. A severe cold, con-
    tracted about a week ago. developed
    into pneumonia which, on account of
    her advanced age, she was unable tb
    withstand. A rally in her condition
    a day o f two ago had aroused hopes
    of recovery, but a sudden change occurred
    yesterday afternoon and the
    end came within a short time.
    Mrs. Deuel lived in Buffalo for many
    years. She was known as a devout
    Christian woman and found her chief
    solace in her religious activities.
    While' infirmities of age restricted her
    physical efforts in the' last few yars.
    her spirit remained undaunted to the
    last. She was the wife of Israel
    Deuel and mother of Herbert Chase
    Deuel. Eva Deuel Stevens and Delbert
    Donald Deuel, all' of which preceded
    her to the grave.
    Funeral services are to be held from
    the Klrst Congregational church, Buffalo,
    Saturday afternoon at 2:36
    o'clock. Burial will be-In the
    plot.at Orchard Park,' N. Y.
