    BUFFALO — Norman John Rainer, of Buffalo, died on Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, after an apparent heart attack. He turned 50 on the 24th of October. Norman was born in Niagara Falls on October 24, 1961, the son of Richard and Nancy (Pitts) Rainer, Sr. of Amherst.

    He attended area schools and was a graduate of Sweet Home High School. Following his graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Norman was self employed as a contractor, focusing on home improvements. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, the arts including drawing and tattooing.

    In addition to his parents, he is survived by three children, Alicia Lynn Rainer of Amherst, Elizabeth Susan Rainer of North Tonawanda and Erie Matthew Rainer of Buffalo; five siblings, Deborah Chandler of North Tonawanda, his twin brother, Captain Richard Rainer, Jr. (Bente) of Rhode Island, James Rainer of Amherst; Beverly Zambito (Frank) of the Town of Tonawanda, Robert Rainer of Indiana; granddaughter, Julianna; several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

    AMHERST —
    Richard A. Rainer, of Amherst, died on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 75. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 1, 1938, the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Whyte) Rainer.
    Attending local schools, Richard joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1963. As a young man, he worked for the railroad, the Niagara Power Project and the Carborundum Company for 10 years. He retired in 1999 from Harrison Radiator where he worked as a millwright for over 30 years. Richard loved and spent a lot of time outdoors fishing, hunting camping and photography. He also enjoyed collecting and learning the new age of electronics. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142; VFW and the UAW 686.
    Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Pitts) Rainer, married in 1961; five children, Deborah Chandler of Lockport, Capt. Richard Rainer, Jr. (Bente) of Amherst, James Rainer of Youngstown, Beverly Zambito (Frank) of Tonawanda and Robert Rainer (fiance, Dondi) of Indiana; his brother, Norman Rainer (Elizabeth) of Kentucky; sister, Margaret Pike of Niagara Falls; sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Norman Rainer, on October 27, 2011; and by his siblings, Shirley Raverinni, Joan Candella, Harry Rainer and Maureen Neidermeyer.

    The marriage of Mias Genevieve A.
    Wahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam
    E. Wahl of La Salle avenue, to Robert
    H. Pitts, son of Mr. and Mrs. James
    T. Pitts of Knoxville, Term., was solemnized
    at 5:30 o'clock on Saturday
    afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran
    church. Rev. Ziemer performed the
    ceremony. The church waa decorated
    with fall flowers and the altar was
    banked with ferns and palms. The
    bride, who was given in marriage by
    her father, was lovely in a gown of
    white satin made on Princess lines. Her
    long tulle veil was, caught to a close
    fitting cap of tulle with clusters of
    orange blossoms. She carried a shower
    bouquet of roses, lilies of the valley
    and babies' breath. Miss Gertrude L.
    Wahl was the bride's only attendant
    and she was gowned in flowered chiffon
    and wore a pink horsehair hat and
    pink mitts. She carried an arm bouquet,
    of pink rosea. Arthur T. Briggs
    was the best roan, and the ushers were
    Arthur and Edgar Schultz. The bride's
    mother was gowned in black chiffon.
    Before the ceremony, Sylvester Hannlgan
    sang "O Promise Me." Immediately
    following the ceremony a reception
    was held at the home of the. bride's
    parents. The guests Included Mr. and
    Mrs. Elmer Cornell and daughter,
    Dolly; Mrs. Alex Haseley, Mrs. Mary
    Wagner, Mrs. Margaret Bunce and
    daughter, Lorraine; Mrs. Mary Wahl,
    Mr. George Wahl, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester
    Hannlgan, Miss Dorothy Eddy,
    and Mrs. Arthur T. Briggs.
    Mr. and Mrs. Pitts left on an extended
    trip through the.south, the later
    traveling in an attractive printed
    gown of blue with a matching hat.
    Upon their return they will make their
    home'at 2203 La Salle avenue.

    Adam E. Wahl, 81, of 2203
    LaSalle Ave., a resident of this city
    more than 67 .years, died Saturday
    (Aug 25, 1956) at his home. Born
    in Normanby, Ont. Mr. Wahl had
    been ill for some time.
    A former maintenance department
    employe for the Board of Education,
    he retired in 1943, after
    20 years of service. Mr. Wahl was
    a member of Bellevue Lodge No.
    316, I OOF.
    He is survived by his wife, Agnes
    t. Wahl; two daughters, Mrs. Ern-
    est Armbrust and Mrs. Robert Pitts;
    a brother, George Wahl, all of this
    city; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bean,
    Anaheim, Calif.; three grandchil-
    dren and two great-grandchildren.
    Services will be conducted at
    1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Cobler's
    Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. by
    the Rev. Evan J. Bartell at St.
    Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will
    be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Berg-
    holtz.

    Mrs. Agnes Terese Wahl, 85,
    of 1752 LaSalle Ave., died in
    Memorial Medical Center today
    (Nov. 12, 1970) after a long
    illness.
    She was born in Walmore and
    lived in Niagara Falls for 70
    years.
    She was a lifelong member
    of st. Paul Calvary Lutheran
    Church and a member of the
    churchwomen there.
    She is survived by two
    daughters, Mrs. Robert
    (Genevieve) Pitts and Mrs.
    Gertrude Arbrust, both of this
    city; three grandchildren and
    12 great-grandchildren.
    Her husband, the late Adam
    Wahl, predeceased her in 1956.
    Funeral services will be held
    Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul
    Calvary Lutheran Church, 18th
    Street, with the Rev. Theodore
    L. Menter officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Paul
    Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholtz.
    Donations to St. Paul Calvary
    Lutheran Church building fund
    will be accepted as tribute, the
    family said.

    Golden Wedding
    The 50th wedding anniversary
    of Mr. and Mrs. Adam E. Wahl,
    will be celebrated with a family
    dinner Thanksgiving afternoon at
    their home in LaSalle Ave.
    They have two daughters, Mrs.
    Robert Pitts and Mrs. Ernest J.
    Amhurst, and three grandchildren,
    Nancy Lynn Pitts, and Jenny Carol
    and Donald J. Amhurst.
    Mr. Wahl retired several years
    ago from the Niagara Falls Board
    of Education maintenance department,
    because of ill health. Mr.
    and Mrs. Wahl are members of
    St. Paul's Evangelical Church and
    have been residents of this city
    for several years
