    This morning at St Mary's church.
    occurred the marriage of Miss Loretta
    Thibault to Amos Brabant Both are
    popular young people of this village,
    possesssing many frienda, who join in
    hearty congratulations.

    Clayton,, Jan 26 - Joseph H. Brabant,
    a lifeloug resident of this village,
    died suddenly at about 9 on Thuraday
    evening. He had attended the men's
    banquet at the Methodist Episoopal
    church, and so far as any one knew was
    in his usual health.
    After the meal was finished and be-
    fore the program which followed was
    begun, he went to the auditorium of
    the building where hats and coat had
    been left. Rev. Mr. Cheeseman assist
    ed him on with his overcoat, and they
    discussed various matters for perhaps
    live minutes. No mention was made
    by him of any physical ailment. He
    left the church and started alone for
    bis place of business in Water street,
    A very few minutes later he was found
    near the McKiuley corner. Dr. Gray
    was among the first to reach him, and
    pionounced him dead, assigning tbe
    cause to heart failure and diabetes.
    Joseph H. Brabant was born in Clay
    ton, the eon of Mr. and Mrs. Leander
    Brabant, Jan. 27, 1866. Thirty-five
    years ago he was united in marriage :
    with Miss Josephine Sharrow. Surviving
    him, besides his widow, are three
    sons, Amos Brabaut and John Brabant
    of Clayton, and George Brabant, now
    attending collage in Montreal; four
    daughters, Mrs. Joseph Baxinet, Mrs.
    Paul Tbibault, Miss Gertrude Brabant
    and Miss Florence Brabant,of Clayton;
    two brothers, Augustus F. Brabant of
    Clayton, and Peter F. Brabant of Chicago;
    three sisters, Mrs. Louis Amio,
    Mrs. Lucy Loveland, Mrs. G. A. Thibault,
    and a step-sister, Mrs. Stephen
    Pelow, all of Clayton.
    Mr. Brabant waa a charter member of
    Thousand Island Council, No. 350
    Knights of Columbus,Watertown Lodge
    Benevolent and Protective Order of
    Elks, Independent Order of Foresters,
    Maccabees, Holy Name society, a mem-
    her of tbe village board of education;
    trustee and treasurer of St. Mary's
    church for 20 yeare.treasurer of the Foresters
    and treasurer of the village of
    Clayton for over 25 years.
    Eighteen years ago he purchased the
    drug and grocery business of F. L.
    Hill, which he conducted successfully
    alone until about three years ago, when
    A. J. LeFaivre entered tbe business
    as a partner.
    "Joe"Brabant was one of tbe town's
    best known snd most respected citi-
    tens, and it is doubtful if the death of
    another citizen would cause more universa
    I and genuine regre*. He was a
    friend to everybody, and everybody
    was bis friend. He was generous to a
    fault Tbe needy had only to make
    their wants known to "Joe" Brabant
    He had tbe faculty of overlooking the
    shortcomings of his neighbors and
    townspeople and his money and his
    goods were as freely given as his sympathy.
    If there was ever a case of
    actual want in tbe town it was because
    "Joe" Brabant did not know of it
    Politically be was always a consistent
    Democrat; religiously he was a devout
    Catholic. While he had pronounced,
    opinions regarding his religion and his
    politics, be was conservative to tbe. ex-
    tent that his views were expressed with
    out offense to any one". He was tbe :
    soul of honor; his word was as good as
    his hood. "Joe"Brabant will be greatly
    missed in the community where he had
    spent his life and is best known.
    The funeral, which will be held from
    St Mary's church on Monday morning
    at 9.80,will be in charge of the Knights
    of Col ambus.- The schools wirt be
    closed as will also all business places
    during tbe funeral. A large delegation
    of Watertown Elks will arrive on the
    morning train snd will join with tbe
    local members of tbe order and attend
    the oburoh services in a body.
