    Mr. and Mrs. Richard Oliver, of
    Linwood avenue, .announce the engagement
    of their daughter, Edith, to
    Alyin Loth, of Third street. The wedding
    will take place Saturday, September
    8.

    Mrs. William Pearson, of the River
    road, Youngstown, entertained at a
    kitchen shower Thursday evening in
    honor of her niece, Miss Edith Oliver,
    of Linwood avenue, whose marriage
    will take place next month. The evening
    was spent in making a bride's
    book, after which a delicious buffet
    lunch was served. The guest of honor
    was the recipient of many beautiful
    and useful gifts. Those present included
    the Misses Elizabeth Kllberef,
    Mildred Baker, Ruth Darter, Winifred
    Rose, Jean Pearson, Cecil Roth
    and Ena Oliver; Mrs. Dora Pearson,
    Mrs. Louis Lauer, Mrs. Edward Roth,
    Mrs. Richard Oliver, Mrs. Francis
    Jones, Mrs. Kllberer and Mrs. Theodore
    Witt.

    Roth-Oliver
    Zlon Lutheran church, beautifully
    decorated with gladioli, was the scene
    of a lovely early fall wedding on
    Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8, at 4:30
    o'clock, when Miss Edith M. Oliver,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
    Oliver, of Ltnwood avenue became
    the bride of Alvto F. Roth, of Third
    street. The Rev. A H. Schmoyer
    performed the ceremony. The bride,
    given away by her father, was very
    charming In a white satin gown, made
    on princess lines with yoke and long,
    tight-fitting sleeves of French lace
    and a short train. Her veil of bridal
    tulle was clasped with orange blossoms
    and fastened on each side of
    the coiffure with a chin-strap. She
    carried a shower bouquet of white
    roses; gypeophela and larkspur. The
    wedding march was played by Mrs.
    Oliver Stelgerwalt and Mrs. Edward
    Roth, mother of the groom, sang "O
    Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly."
    Miss Ena Oliver was her sister's
    maid of honor and wore an orchid
    satin gown and a turban of orchid
    velvet with circular mallne veil and
    matching accessories. She carried
    a bouquet of red talisman roses and
    larkspur.
    Miss ceclle Roth, sister of the
    groom, and Miss Elizabeth Kilberer,
    were bridesmaids. They were attired
    in gowns of pastel shades of blue and
    peach crepe, with velvet turbans with
    circular mallne veils and matching
    accessories. They carried bouquets
    of yellow tea roses, delphinium and
    larkspur.
    Miss Marion Jean Pearson, of
    Youngstown, was charming as her
    cousin's flower girl and wore a Kate
    Greenway dress of green organdy
    with hat and slippers to match.
    Kenneth Wilson attended the groom.
    The ushers were E. Mansfield and
    G. Thomas.


    Mrs. Richard Oliver, mother of the
    bride, wore an ensemble of navy blue
    crepe, with matching' accessories and
    a shower corsage of white gardenias.
    Mrs. E. Roth, mother of the groom,
    wore a black crepe ensemble trimmed
    with white satin and a shoulder
    romge of talisman roses and larkspur.
    Following the ceremony a wedding
    luncheon was served to 40 guests
    In the parish house. Covers were laid
    for 10 at the bride's tables, which
    was cratered with a three-tier wedding
    cake. The color scheme was carried
    out in yellow and white.
    Mr. and Mrs. Roth left on A wed
    ding trip to Chicago. The bride
    traveling in a gray plaid dress with
    bltuk accessories- On their return
    they Will reside In this city.
    Prenuptlal affairs held in honor
    of the bride were a kitchen shower
    by Mrs. Wm. Pearion. Oaklelgh,
    Younsrstown: bathroom shower, by
    Miss Ena Oliver, at the "Marguerite."
    In Olcott; variety Shower, by Mrs.
    Edward Roth at 631 Third street;
    variety shower by Miss Elizabeth
    Kilberer. at 727 Pierce Avenue;
    variety shower by Mrs. Claud Annette ,
    Main Street; shower by her business
    Associates and a Unen shower by Mrs
    Lewis F. Lauer, at 754 Monteagle
    street.

    Funeral services were held
    Wednesday for Edward J. Roth,
    84, of 631 Third St., who died in
    Buffalo Friday (Oct. 31, 1969).
    Mr. Roth was born in Switzerland
    on Oct. 7, 1885, and had
    lived in Niagara Falls since 1901.
    He was employed by the Niagara
    Falls Power Co. from 1903 to
    1950 and was a foreman when
    he retired,.
    He was a past noble grand
    of the Independent Order of Odd
    Fellows Lodge No. 81 and was
    past chief patriarch of Frontier
    Encampment No. 99.
    Mr. Roth's wife, Hilda, died
    Jan. 10 of this year.
    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
    William Cecile Lenz, this city;
    a son, Alvin F. Roth, Fresno,
    Calif., seven grandchildren and
    13 great-grandchildren.
    Private services were held at
    Memorial Park Cemetery
    with the Rev. Paul R.
    Swank officiating. Arrangements
    were made by Cobler's Funeral
    Home.

    Pittsburgh. There are seven
    grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    at Cobler's Funeral Home on
    Monday at 11 a.m. with the
    Rev. Paul R. Swank officiating.
    Burial will be in Memorial Park
    Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral
    home from 2 to 5 and 7 to
    9 p.m.

    Roths Celebrate
    50th Anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roth, Third St,, celebrated
    their 50th wedding anniversary at the home of their
    son, Alvin Roth, Fresno, Calif., where they have been
    spending the winter.
    Mr. and Mrs. Roth will leave April 12 for Fort
    Worth, Tex., to visit Mrs. Roth's sister, and will return
    to this city April 26.

    Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roth, of 63l
    Third street, held a lovely reception
    Saturday night In celebration of their
    twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
    Dancing and entertainment was enjoyed.
    Mrs, U Newman gave several
    readings. A mock wedding was held,
    reacting the ceremony of twenty-five
    years ago. Mrs. E. Scotland sang, accompanied
    at the piano by Mrs. J.
    Kaeppeler. At midnight a buffet lunch
    was served. The table was covered
    with a filet cloth and in the center
    was a beautiful wedding cake also
    decorated with silver. Predominating
    colors were in silver and pink. Mr.
    and Mrs. Roth were the recipients of
    many beautiful gifts.
    The 40 guests included: Mr. and
    Mrs. F. Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. J.
    Kaeppeler, Mr. and Mrs. Y. Snyder,
    Mr. and Mrs. P. Wagner, Mr. and
    Mrs. J. Brenner, Mr, and Mrs. J,
    McEuwen Mr. and Mrs. L. Newman,
    Mr. and Mrs. H. Lents. Mr. and Mrs.
