    Memorial Hospital. He is sur-
    vived by his wife,, Ella; one son,
    Archie Brownell of Gasport; one
    sister, Mrs. Flora Shorten of
    Gasport; two brothers, Roy of
    Gasport and Elmer of Hollywood,
    Fla; two grandchildre and
    three great - grandchildren.
    Friends may call at the Bream
    Funeral Home,, Main St,, Gas-
    port on Monday and Tuesday be-
    tween 2 and 4 and 7 and 9 p.m.
    where funeral will be held on
    Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1959 at 2 p.m.
    Interment will be in Hartland
    Central Cemetery.

    Mr, and Mm Herbert J. Brownell of Orangeport
    Road, Gasport, were honored Wednesday afternoon and
    evening at an Open House given by their son, Archie
    Brownell, and Mrs. Brownell, at the home of Mrs, Bessie
    McDaris of Orangeport Road, in observance of their
    50th wedding anniversary.
    The couple was married March
    14, 1901 la Hartland at the home
    of his grandparents on Ridge
    Road, by the Rev. Barnett of
    Hartland M. E. Church.
    Refreshmenu were served buffet
    style from a lace covered table
    with a centerpiece of yellow
    roses, snapdragons and small
    mums, with candles at either aide.
    la the afternoon, coffee and
    cake were served by Mrs. Charles
    Sharpsteen with Mrs. Harry Dill
    erving punch and tea. During the
    evening reception, Mrs. Chauncey
    Brownell and Mrs. Edward Deigh-
    ton served. The three-tiered white
    wedding cake wa trimmed with
    yellow, with gold leaves inserted
    at intervas and topped by a brie
    and groom annd large gold band.
    BEST MAN PRESENT
    Nearly 100 guests attended, including
    Roy Brownell of Quaker
    Road, who was his brother's best
    man 50 years ago. The other attendant
    at the wedding was Miss
    Mamie Brayley, cousin of Mrs.
    Brownell, who now resides in Chicago
    and was unable to attend.
    Mr. Brownell was bora June 11,
    1880 aa Quaker Road, Hartland.
    He is the son of the late Jessie
    ISrewnell of Quaker Road and
    Anna Mayne Brownell. a native of
    f sanda Mrs. Brownell's parents
    Were Cameron Hosmer of Lockport
    aad Carrie Shorten Hosmer
    of Hartland. She was born May
    1, 1884 at Ridgeway.
    For several years, Mr. Brownell
    has been employed by the Western
    Block Co. on Market Street.
    The couple formerly resided oa
    Quaker Road but are making
    their home with their ana until
    their new home oa Orangeport
    Scad is completed. They are
    members of the Quaker Road
    Methodist Church.
    FIRST WHITE BABY
    Mr. Brownell is descended from
    early settlers in the area. His paternal
    grandmother was the first
    white baby born in the county, of
    Quaker stock, and her birth is recorded
    la the history of Niagara
    County.
    Besides their son. Mr. and Mrs.
    Brownell have two grandchildren
    and two great-grandchildren.
    The honored couple received
    many gifts including gift flowers
    which decorated the rooms.

    held at the Friends church o n t h e afternoon
    of Tuesday.

    M. Brownell died Saturday at the home
    of her daughter, Mrs. William E. Eaton,,
    West Somerset. She is survived by five
    children. Mrs. George ' Shorten. Gasport.
    Mrs. William Eaton. West Somerset.
    Herbert Brownell, Lockport. Roy
    Brownell. Gasport. and Elmer Brownell
    of Buffalo, a sister. Mrs. Retta Ingersoll.
    of the Quaker road, and two brothers.
    John Mayne. Buffalo, and Dr H
    H. Mayne. Lockport. The funeral will
    be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock
    Standard time, from the home ofMr.
    and Mrs.. Eaton with burial in Hart-
    land Central cemetery.
