    Gordon E Burnham  of Youngstown, NY, passed away on  Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 25, 1941, the son of the late Earl and Esther J. (Bero)  Burnham.
    He attended Lew-Port, where he excelled at basketball and baseball.
    He was a proud Native American Mohawk and worked as an ironworker with Local #25 of Michigan from an early age up through his retirement in 2004.   Mr. Burnham worked on city skyscrapers in New York City, San Francisco and Seattle, automobile factories in Detroit, as well as bridges all over the country.   At the age of 22, and as the youngest Mohawk Ironworker on the Lewiston Queenston Bridge, he was given the honor of cutting down the safety net over the Niagara River when the project was complete.  Mr. Burnham was a hard worker and enjoyed walking the "high steel”.
    Gordon was a loving, generous, kind father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.  He enjoyed storytelling, music, art, and travel. In his retirement, he traveled throughout the country, including Maine, to visit his grandchildren.  He returned to Youngstown, 17 years ago, where his heart and soul remain.
    He is survived by his children Kalan (Achiraya Ruanghan) Burnham and Tracy (Bruce Nicholson) Burnham, three grandchildren Wilder, Caley and Sawyer, four sisters Judith (late Kenneth) Stevens, Jacqueline (David) Mitchell, Jennifer (late Kenneth) Andrews and Janelle (Leonard) Longley, a brother Gary Burnham and his former wife, Bonnie Frame Williams, also many nieces and nephews.  
    Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 18, 2021
    , from 2-5 PM at the Stone Jug in Youngstown, where we can share stories, honor a life well-lived, and have an appropriate send off.
    Anyone who wishes to make contributions in Gordon’s memory, please honor him with a note to the Youngstown Free Library or the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department.
    Arrangements were made through the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Lewiston, NY.
