TUSCARORA NATION —
William E. Anderson, of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. He was a member of the Bear Clan, born in Buffalo, NY, on August 8, 1942, the son of the late Eunice (Maracle) Hill and Raymond "Ted" Johnson.
Bill attended the Tuscarora Indian School and was in the first graduating class at Niagara Wheatfield High School. He served with the US Air Force, from 1961 until 1965. He was employed with Niagara Wheatfield School System, Durez Chemical and with Occidental Chemical for over 20 years, before retiring in 1990. Bill enjoyed puttering around his home, walking, making lawn ornaments and was an avid movie goer.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Loraine C. (Draper) Anderson; two sons, William E. (Deborah) Anderson II of Charlotte, NC and Richard L. (Meghan L. Parsons) Anderson of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Melissa S. (Jose Salinas) Anderson of Seattle, WA; two grandsons, Daryl W. Salinas and Carlo R. Anderson; four brothers, James and Randolph Hill, Fred and Morley Johnson; five sisters, Mary Woodbury, Elizabeth Williams, Melissa (James) Mercendetti, Nancy Burnham and Linda Doolittle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where a prayer services will be held at 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2208 Mt Hope Road, Sanborn, NY, with Rev. Walter A. Printup, Jr. officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery on the Tuscarora Nation.
