    yesterday M Memorial Hospital after
    suffering a heart attack at his
    home on Sunday.
    Mr. Steinbrenner was a native of
    this city .ind the son of Carl Steinbrenner
    and Barbara Locher Steinbrenner,
    pioneer residents here. He
    retired la*t May after- being em*
    ployed as carpenter for the Board
    for 26 years. He was a member
    of Zion Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie
    Want Steinbrenner, a son and
    a daughter, Howard Steinbrenner
    and Miss Dorothy tSeinbrenner and
    a sister, Mrs. Karoline Smalc, all
    of this city; another sister, Mrs.
    Ida Deringer, Orlando, Fla., and
    a brother, Carl Steinbrenner, Lake
    Side, Catif.
    Services will be held Thursday
    at 3 p.m. at the family home, with
    the Rev. Arthur H; Schmoyer, pastor
    of Zion Lutheran Church, of*
    ficiating. Burial will be in Oakwood
    Cemetery.

    Funeral services for Carl Steinbrenner,
    Sr., well known builder,
    were held on Saturday afternoon
    at the home of h i s daughter. Mrs.
    William G. Smale. 4843 Lewiston
    road. The Rev. Arthur D. Schmoyer.
    D.D., officiated at t h e services at
    which music was rendered by Mrs.
    Fred Scotland and Carl Heywang.
    Members of the immediate family
    acted as bearers. They were h is
    sons, Frank and Carl, Jr.. of this
    city; his s o n s - i n - l a w , John P. Dcringer,
    of New York City, and Will
    i am O. Smale, of t h i s city, h is
    nephew, Henry Schwenk. and his
    grandson. Howard C Steinbrenner.
    Interment was made in Riverdale
    cemetery.

    A pioneer builder who had erected
    many well-known public buildings
    in the city, Carl Steinbrenner,
    died yesterday at the home of his
    daughter, Mrs. .William G. Smale,
    4843 Lewiston road.
    Mr. Steinbrenner was born in
    Wittenberg. Germany, July 2, 1839.
    He was educated in the public
    schools and early in life learned the
    carpentry trade. In 1880 he migrated
    to this country.
    Settling in the old Suspension
    Bridge section of the city he found
    employment in his trade, which he
    followed until 1892 when he established
    a planning mill and lumber
    yard on the site of the present
    North Junior high school. He conducted
    this enterprise for a number
    of years.
    Among his building projects were
    the Zion Lutheran church, Michigan
    avenue, of which he was a charter
    member, and the First Baptist
    church, Main street, two fire halls,
    the Highland avenue and Third
    street ones, the Crick Block. Third
    street school, the Permanent Savings
    and Loan Association building,
    as well as several other major
    business places.
    " H e Was active In public affairs
    and served under the administration
    of Philip J. Keller as a member of
    the Board of Public Works. He
    was a charter member of the Exempt
    Firemen's association.
    Surviving are two sons, Carl and
    Frank Steinbrenner, two daughters,
    Mrs. J. P. Deringer and Mrs. William
    G. Smale, five grandchildren
    and five great grandchildren.
    The funeral service will be held
    at the home Saturday at 2 p.m.
    with the Rev. Arthur Schmoyer officiating.
    Interment will be at
    Rlverdale cemetery

    MRS. Carl Stcinbrenner, Sr.. died in
    the home of her. daughter. Mrs. \\iiiam

    shortly after 4 o'clock this afternoon
    following an aillness of a week. Mrs.
    Steinbrenner had been an invalid for
    many years.
    Eesides her daughter. Mrs. Smak

    ; two sons. Carl G. Stelnbrenner, J:J
    I and F. W. Steinbrenner; her husband,

    Mrs. Stelnbrenner was born
    Wurtemburg, Germany, and came
    this city when a girl of 17. She r.
    lived here since that time. She was::
    member of Zion Lutheran church as
    of the Frauen Vcrein society of th
    church.
    The funeral will be held Wednes—jj
    afteniLC-n at 2:30 o'clock from the
    home of Mrs. Smale and services will
    be private. the Rev. Herman Brezing
    will officiate and burial will be in
    Riverdale cemetery.
