Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 16, 1917. in Niagara Falls. the son of Rudolph and Lydia (Williams) Milleville. He was the co-owner and operator of R. Milleville Dairy. where he worked for 46 years. He retired in 1980. Mr. Milleville was a charter member and past president of the LaSalle Lion's Club. a 60-year member and past president of the LaSalle Business and Professional Association, a past president of the LaSalle YMCA and chairman of the board of the Cooperative Fire Insurance Co. of Bergholz. A lifemember of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mr. Milleville also was an elder and a member of the building committee. He enjoyed fishing. bowling, photography and woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Verna (Belling) Milleville of Niagara Falls; three daughters. Barbara Mielki (sic) of Niagara Falls, Beverly Able of Orchard Park and Brenda Jasinski of Pendleton; a sister. Eleanor Garner of Niagara Falls; a brother. | 11 | Niagara Gazette - 12/16/1968 Roy Hewitt, descendant of earlysettlers of Niagara County' and a former member of the New York State Assembly* died Sunday (Dec 15, 1968) in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hewitt, who was 88, resided at 5927 Military Road. He operated a. farm for 50 years in Military Road. Mr, Hewitt's great-grandparents suffered the loss of their home during the War of 1812 when it was burned by hostile Indians. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hewitt escaped to Batavia but later returned to build a home in Lewiston Road. The Hewitt, family's Niagara County heritage dates back to the turn of the 19th century when Joseph moved here from Connecticut . Roy Hewitt's engagement in politics came easily' since his forefathers were, instrumental in the formation of the political structure of Niagara County. He was supervisor of the Town of Lewiston from 1924 to 1939. He served.three terms in the State Assembly in what was then known as the 2nd Niagara County Assembly District. Mr. Hewitt was a member of Niagara River Lodge, F&AM, for -65 years and Sacarissa Lodge, IOOF, for 60 years. H£ was also a member of the Royal Arch-Masons and Knights Templar. Mr. Hewitt and his wife, Edna, who survives him, were members of the Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church for 49 years. The couple celebrated soonsortheir 65th wedding anniversary May 11 of this year. Mr. Hewitt is also survived by two sons, Russell Hewitt, this city, and J. Paul Hewitt of Lewiston, chairman of the Niagara County Board of Supervisors; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Doris) Shrubsall and Mrs. Norma Stagg, this city; .Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Davidson, Falls Church, Va., and Mrs. Kenneth (Grace) Potten, Lewiston. Four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren also,; survive. Another daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Robertson, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Pierce. He is survived by his wife, Joan; four daughters, Robin (Terry) Nobles, Sandra (George) Hudler, Nancy (Edward) Parsons and Betsy Lewis; nine grandchildren, Kristen and Scott (Stacey) Nobles, Justin (Kim) Patterson, Jennifer and Elizabeth Hudler, Heather and Luke Parsons, Ian and Hayley Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Reece and Aiden Paterson; brother, Jerome S. | 15 | Gordon E Burnham of Youngstown, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 25, 1941, the son of the late Earl and Esther J. (Bero) Burnham. He attended Lew-Port, where he excelled at basketball and baseball. He was a proud Native American Mohawk and worked as an ironworker with Local #25 of Michigan from an early age up through his retirement in 2004. Mr. Burnham worked on city skyscrapers in New York City, San Francisco and Seattle, automobile factories in Detroit, as well as bridges all over the country. At the age of 22, and as the youngest Mohawk Ironworker on the Lewiston Queenston Bridge, he was given the honor of cutting down the safety net over the Niagara River when the project was complete. Mr. Burnham was a hard worker and enjoyed walking the "high steel”. Gordon was a loving, generous, kind father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He enjoyed storytelling, music, art, and travel. In his retirement, he traveled throughout the country, including Maine, to visit his grandchildren. He returned to Youngstown, 17 years ago, where his heart and soul remain. He is survived by his children Kalan (Achiraya Ruanghan) Burnham and Tracy (Bruce Nicholson) Burnham, three grandchildren Wilder, Caley and Sawyer, four sisters Judith (late Kenneth) Stevens, Jacqueline (David) Mitchell, Jennifer (late Kenneth) Andrews and Janelle (Leonard) Longley, a brother Gary Burnham and his former wife, Bonnie Frame Williams, also many nieces and nephews. Dale was born at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY on September 19, 1951, the son of the late Robert T. and Dolores (Meyer) Demler. A SUNY ESF graduate with a degree in Forest Biology, Dale worked in the Pupil Transportation field. He enjoyed helping others and served as a Troop Leader in the Boy Scouts, was a lifetime member of the Frontier Volunteer Fire Co., and spent many years as a reenactor at Old Fort Niagara. Dale was the husband of the late JoAnn (Treichler) Demler, who passed away on October of 2012 and was the brother of the late Judie (William) Burgess. He is survived by two sons James A. Demler and Jonathan R. (Carla) Demler, two grandchildren Maggie and Dominic, his brother Calvin R. (Carmela) Demler, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was born January 19, 1949 in Batavia to Franklin and Elnora (Wruck) Brucker and was a life-long resident of this area. Ray was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a family man who enjoyed working on his Hobby Farm. His family was his life and dearly loved his wife, son and daughter-in-law as well as his bird “Doink” and his dog “Riley”. Mr. Brucker was predeceased by his brother: Henry and two sisters: Frances and Lucille. She was born July 14, 1934 in Lockport to the late Howard and Bessie (Tall) Litz. Nancy raised six children and helped run the family dairy farm. In her later years she cared for her mother and mother-in-law along with several grandchildren. She’d often say, “I would do it all over again.” Her favorite pastime/hobbies included: reading novels, playing cards, puzzle books and board games with her family. Everyone knew how much she loved her cows, which is how her cow collection started. Mrs. Reeson was predeceased by her husband Thomas Reeson Sr., son David (Cheryl) Reeson and grandchildren: Amanda and James. She is survived by her children: Thomas E. Born in Westfield, NY on August 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline Riscili. Mr. Riscili lived in Niagara Falls most of his life and recently moved to Grand Island to live with his son Joe for the past six years. George proudly served with the Navy Seabees 57th Battalion in the South Pacific from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On April 16, 1947 George married the former Rose T. Gaetano in St. Joseph Church. Rose predeceased George on April 29, 2008. George worked for Hooker Chemical in the refrigeration department and retired in 1983. Mr. Riscili was a model train enthusiast. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and basking in the sun with his dog Bailey. | 28 | Obituary Wilfred G. Aderman, aka Bill, of Deland, FL, formerly of Alden, N.Y. - age 100, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2021. He was born in the Town of Newstead, N.Y., on August 26, 1921 to the late Andrew and Hattie (Clark) Aderman. Bill, a Pearl Harbor survivor, served in the United States Army throughout WWII. He was married to his late wife, Marguerite (Burdick) Aderman, for over 69 years, until her passing in 2016. Bill retired at age 62 from Lapp Express in Cheektowaga, N.Y. He continued to work part time until he was 92 years old. He was a member of Millgrove Bible Church for many years. Bill is survived by his attentive children, Bill (Anne) Aderman, Larry (Pamela) Aderman, and Linda (Rogelio) Marcial; Linda served as his constant and loving healthcare surrogate for the last 5 years. He was an active and involved Grandpa/Papa to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Noteworthy was Bill’s love of his faith and family, of entertaining people - vocally as well as with his harmonica playing and his overwhelming and constant “Good Samaritan” personality. Linda was the former owner of Drumees Corner Store in Middleport and after retirement she became a fitness instructor at the Medina YMCA for Silver Sneakers. Linda was a member of the Gasport Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of the Gasport Beautification Committee. Linda loved sunsets and sunrises at the lake, Alex Bay and Venice, Florida. Robert was born November 8, 1934, to Allen and Alice (Hoover) McCarty in Big Run, Pennsylvania. Robert, known to many as "Mac", worked at Durez Plastics in North Tonawanda for 40 years, retiring as a Maintenance Foreman in 1989. Mac and son, Jason, owned and operated McCarty Auto for many years. Robert enjoyed hunting, watching his westerns (especially with James Arness or John Wayne), and listening to classic country music on WXRL. Much like the cowboys in his favorite shows, he didn't mince words; he spit them out whole with a few colorful embellishments. He could fix just about anything, and especially loved spending time with his family. He was well loved, respected, and always there to lend a hand wherever needed. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joan (Hoyer) McCarty and predeceased by his former wife Marian J. (Detrie) McCarty, the mother of his children, who passed in 1995. Robert was the father of Ronald (Nancy) McCarty, Brian (Deborah) McCarty, Kathlene McCarty, Wanda (Gerard) Lederhouse, and Jason (Paula) McCarty. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; step-father to Debbie Wasieczko, Tracy Monte, and the late J.R. Allen. He later specialized in Gynecologic Oncology and served as President of Mid-Atlantic Gynecologic Oncology Society and President for both the New England and Connecticut American Cancer Societies. After practicing medicine for nearly 30 years, Bill enjoyed a 2nd career as a pilot and flight instructor out of Brainard Airfield in Hartford, CT. Anthony enjoyed spreading happiness to all those he came in contact with. Before his mother passed, Anthony learned to make her legendary chocolate chip cookies. The cookies were a symbol of love and were magically known to bring people together. He enjoyed riding his Harley, in classic car shows showcasing '57 Chevy, the VFW, coffee dates with his brother, and walks on the beach. Anthony will always be remembered for his sense of humor, infectious smile, and unwavering kindness. He lit up a room and easily connected with everyone he met. She was also a resident volunteer at Wyndham Lawn home for children for 30 years, she was also the hairdresser for the children. Along with her many years of hairdressing, she chose another path with real estate with Carriage Realty. She was a secretary for several years with Dr. Gilkar before opening the Dug Out Bar in Newfane with her husband Michael throughout the nineties, where she adopted many more 'children.' After several years of being a snow bird, she permanently moved to Winter Haven Florida with her husband Mike. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary for Lockport VFW and Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary for Amvets of Lakeland Florida for several years. Barb was awarded as Ladies Auxiliary member of the year for Amvets in 2022. Barb had the most angelic and contagious smile that could light up the darkest sky. If you were in her presence, you could not help but smile with her. She was loved by so many. She was preceded in death by her parents Frances and George Sahr. There will be no prior visitation. He served for 25 years as a Correctional Officer and Acting Sergeant with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2011. He was also an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Yankees, and Boston Bruins and enjoyed golfing and watching golf tournaments on television, especially the US Open. An animal lover, Carl was extremely close to his dogs, especially his dog Louie. Carl also cherished family and friends get togethers where a good time was had by all, and Carl would be in his glory listening to music, cooking, grilling and enjoying a good cigar. | 46 | Darryl P. DiNoto February 25, 2024 Darryl P. DiNoto, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away February 25, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Peter A. and Janet (Porfilio) DiNoto. Darryl attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School and graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. On May 16, 1968, he married Linda M. (LaPlante) DiNoto. Darryl held many positions over the years, including working as a Traffic Safety Officer for the Niagara County Sherriff’s Department from 1995 until 2001, working for Niagara County Buildings & Grounds for ten years, serving as Assistant Commissioner for the Niagara County Board of Elections from 2012 until 2017, and acting as the Facilities Director for the Niagara Falls Water Board from 2017 until his retirement in 2020. Being a very civically engaged person, Darryl also proudly served as the Treasurer of the Niagara County Democratic Committee, an organization he was an active member with for over 25 years. He was also a longtime member of the Niagara University Alumni Association. Darryl was a man of many hobbies and interests. He loved nature and astronomy, and was involved with the Buffalo Astronomical Association. Bird watching, nature days at Tifft and Letchworth Parks, boating, fishing, and gardening were some of his favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors. He occasionally lectured at the Buffalo Museum of Science on some of his passions and interests. Darryl’s favorite passion, however, was cooking for his family and friends. Above all he cherished spending time with his beloved family. Darryl will be remembered most as a smart, thoughtful, curious, and generous man. In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Darryl is survived by his children, Deborah (Michael) Asklar and Dawn (Christopher) Gierschke; his grandchildren Noah Asklar, Emma Asklar, Ava Asklar, and Sophia Gierschke; his sister, Marsha (James) Bruno; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. | 47 | David F. Cerrone, 65, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on February 24, 2024 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Josephine (Demico) Cerrone and the late A. Vincent Cerrone. David was a 1977 graduate of Niagara Catholic High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He was employed with A.D. Transport Express as a truck driver for 20 years. He also worked for Rus Industries and worked for various other trucking companies. In addition to his job that he loved, Diesel, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. More than anything, he cherished the time that he spent with his daughters and his grandson. In addition to his mother, David is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Jerry Scarbrough) Cerrone and Elana Cerrone; his grandson, Censere Jr.; His step-children, Eric (Kara) Patricko and Alicia Patricko; his brothers, Vincent J. Cerrone (Gina Appoloney) and Anthony Cerrone, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark V. (Candy) Cerrone. | 48 | David LaPort, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Rio Rico, AZ. He was born in Pendleton in 1942 to Vincent and Mary (Frasier) LaPort, spending his early years on the family farm with his siblings, Roger and Mary. In 2006, David moved to Arizona with his wife of forty-one years, Ruth Anne (Townsend), until his passing. His loved ones will remember him for being the first to lend a helping hand. David was quick to assist family, friends, and strangers by volunteering tools, time, or expertise. He was constantly on the move with more energy than most people half his age. His happiest times were spent ATVing in the open trails of Arizona, sharing laughs with his close-knit community of neighbors, and sitting by a bonfire. David is survived by his wife, Ruth Anne, and three children, Michelle Wojewoda, Robert LaPort, and Kate Lezinski, as well as five grandchildren, Daniel Wojewoda, Laura Wojewoda, Carson LaPort, Madison LaPort, and Sloane Lezinski. | 49 | Delores J. Hugill June 11, 2023 Delores J. Hugill, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace HCF in Lewiston, NY. Born in West Decatur, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Adeline (Socie) Smeal. In June 1951, Delores married Loraine M. Hugill in Philipsburg, PA and the family then moved in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Hugill predeceased her on March 15, 2011 after 59 years of marriage. Delores was employed as a Lunch Aide and Teacher’s Aide with the Niagara Falls Board of Education, working at Harry F. Abate Elementary School for 10 years. She was a proud and active Girl Scout Leader for her daughters. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and having lunch with friends at the Calvin Richards Senior Center in the Town of Niagara. Delores was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Delores is survived by her daughters, Debrah (Gerald) Townsend, Vickie (James) Birjukow, and Carol (Daniel Sr.) Wirth; her grandchildren, Charlotte (David) Michalski, Jonathan Townsend, Amanda (Jason) Carozzi, Jaime (Jake) Harris, Rebecca Wirth, Michelle Wirth, and Daniel Wirth, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Cameron (Francie) Townsend, Franklin Townsend, Brian Butkowski, Jr., David Harris, Adalynn Harris, Abagail Harris, and Connor Carozzi; her nephew, Dennis Smeal, her niece, Barbie (James) Todd, as well several cousins. | 50 | DEMLER - Gustav Demler, 98, Friday (October 7, 1977) at his residence after a lengthy illness. Mr. Demler was a retired farmer, a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Layman's League. He was the husband of the late Lucy (nee Mavis) Demler, who died December 27,1968. He is survived by a son, Wilbert W. Demler of the Town of Amherst and a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Fritz of North Tonawanda; five grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren.
