WILSON-Miss Kathryn Louise Chiavaro
became the wife of Dennis Edward Upton in
a 7 p.m. double ring ceremony Saturday (Aug.
23, 1969) at Wilson First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Harold Faba officiated at the
candlelight wedding.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs.
John A. Chiavaro, 6133 Corwin Ave., Newfane.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Upton, 2579 Townline Road.

GIVEN in marriage by her father, the bride
wore a white silk organza gown fashioned with
bishop sleeves, mandarin neckline and attached
sweep train. It was trimmed with venice lace
and accented with ..blue ribbon inserts. She
carried a cloud bouquet of white daisies, blue
delphinium and baby's breath.
Miss Anne M. Studley of Rochester was
honor attendant. Her gown of Meissen blue
dotted swiss featured an empire waist and
short puffed sleeves. She,wore a white straw
picture hat and carried a colonial bouquet.
Similarly attired were the bridesmaids, Miss
Cynthia Upton, sister of the groom, and Miss
Beverly Vento, cousin of the bride. Miss Angela
Shearer and Brian Shearer, cousins of
the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer.
Miss Shearer wore a white dotted swiss gown
similar to that of the bridesmaids and carried
a basket of flowers.

HERBERT FRERICHS served as best man.
Ushers were Terence Upton, brother of the
groom, and Joseph Chiavaro brother of the
bride.
A reception was held at the Wilson Conservation
Club before the couple left for a trip
to Washington. They will live in Genesco
where both will be seniors at the State University
College there.

James J. Rountree, 61, of
3827 Macklem Ave. died Sunday
(Aug. 23, 1970) in Memorial
Medical Center where he had
been a patient since Aug. 15.
A native of Niagara Falls, he
was the son of Alexander and
Mary Walsh Rountree. He
received his bachelor o f
business administration degree
from Niagara University and
was employed at The Carborundum
Co. for 43 years, Mr.
Rountree was employed in the
p r o d u c t i o n p l a n n i ng
d e p artment-bonded abrasive
division when he became ill
He was a member of Knights
of Columbus Council 247, the
St. Teresa Holy Name Society,
the 40-year Club a t Carborundum,
the National Camper
and Hikers Association and the
LaSalle Sportsman's Club.
Survivors Include his widow,
Anne Mahoney Rountree; a
son, Michael J. Rountree of
Newfane; and daughter, Mrs.
Walter (Alice) Rivers of this
city; three brother, Alexander
P. R o u n t r e e Of North
Tonawanda and Joseph P, and
John A. Rountree, both of this
city; a sister, Mrs. John (Ann)
Gleason of this city, and two
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
at the Rhoney Funeral Home
Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. and
at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus
Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Gate of
Heaven Cemetery.
Members of the Knights of
Columbus and St. Teresa Holy
Name Society will recite the
rosary Tuesday at 8 p.m. at
the funeral home.
The family will be present at
the funeral home from 11 a.m.
to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday.

widower, James F. Reid; a

Ellman. son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Ellman
of Elmwood avenue. The bride
was charmingly gowned In a powd.er

match and carried an arm bouquet
of bride roses, lily of the valley and
gypsophllla. She was attended by
her sister, Miss Helen Crotty, who
was attractively gowned In aand

The groom was attended by Herman
J. Roth. After tho ceremony a wedding
breakfast was served at the
home of the bride for the Immediate
family. The home was beautifully
decorated with sweet peas and lilies
of the vftlley. After the wedding
breakfast Mr., and Mrs. Ellman left
on an extended trip to Youngstown.

BERGHOLTZ, Aug. 31-One of
the loveliest, of late summer wed-
dlnga took place in the Holy Ghost
Lutheran church Saturday, August 28,
when Miss Mildred Wurl, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wurl. of this
village, was united In marriage to
Bruce Schulz, son of Mr. and Mrs
Henry Schulz, of Walmore.
The Rev. J . Kuckenbecker performed
the double ring ceremony. Baskets
of roses were placed in each
window and the altar was banked
with varl-colored gladioli and palms
A garland was draped across the
sanctuary centering over the bride
and groom with a large wedding cake
The bride, who was given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in a
gown of satin and lace. It was
fashioned on princess lines with a
standing collar. A long train of lace
with Insets of satin fell from her
shoulder. She wore her mother's
bridal veil of net. She carried a
shower bouquet of white roses and
lllies-of-the-valley.
Miss Beatrice Llbrenr, who was
maid of honor, wore a gown of white
net. The shirt was set with bands
of taffeta and she wore a short taffetta
Jacket with large puff sleeves
A tiara of tiny rosebuds completed
her costume. Her arm bouquet was
of roses.
The bridesmaids. Misses Alice
Stoeltlng, Gertrude Malchow. Freda
Ziehl, and Leona Toelner, were gowned
alike in all white satin made on
princess lines with square shaped
necklines and puffed sleeves. They
also wore tiaras of tiny rosebuds
and carried bouquets of roses. Little
Elinor Ziehl as flower girl made a
charming picture In white taffetta
Robert Ziehl acted as ring bearer.
Walter Schulz attended his brother
as best man. The attendants were
Lester Wurl, Fred Wurl, Jr., and
Severn Doebler.
The bride's mother was gowned in
a blue chiffon over silk and the
groom's mother wore blue crepe. Both
had shoulder corsages of tea roses.
Edward Kolbe was soloist singing "O
Promise Me."
Dainty evening bags were presented
to the bridesmaids by the bride
and the groom presented his attend-
ants with ties and matching hand-
lerchiefs. The groom's gift to the
bride was a lavalier set with a dia-
mond and the bride presented him
with a diamond ring.
Following the ceremony a reception
was held at the home of the bride
for 160 guests. There were 12 seated
at the bride's table.
Out of town guests included Mr.
and Mrs. John Schulz and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pogel, and Mr.
and Mrs. Adolph Schulz, all of
Unionsville, Michigan.
Upon their return from a trip to
the Adirondacks, Mr. and Mrs.
Schulz will take up temporaary resi-
dence at the home of the bride's
parents.

ribbon tied with gardenias.
The bride was given in marriage by
her brother, Mr. Richard K. Butler.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Oeorge
E. .Gray, sister of the bride, wore a
peach lace redingote over peach satin
with aguamarine accessories. She
carried a' colonial bouquet of baby
mum asters and delphlnufm. The
bridesmaid. Miss Jean Scott, wore an
aquamarine lace redingote over satin
with peach accessories. She carried
a colonial bouquet of baby mum asters
and larkspur.
Mr. Fred Nyckvlst acted as best
man. The ushers were Mr. George
Cota and Mr. Clyde Parker, brother
of the grpom. Miss Verna Tompkins
softly sang "At Dawning" accompanied
by Miss Mary Eckel'at the organ.
The bride's mother wore a white
crepe suit with London tan accessories.
After the ceremony a reception was
held at the home of the bride, 433
Cedar avenue for about 50 guests.
The bridal party was seated at a
table covered with a three tier wedding
cake topped with a miniature
bride and groom, silver candlesticks
with Ivory tapes, completed the arrangement.
After the reception Mr. and Mrs.
Parker left, on a trip to various parts
of the south and northern part of
Canada. After Sept. 5, they will be
at home to their friends at 432 Cedar
avenue. The bride traveled in a
white gabardine suit with white accessories
and wore a corsage of gardenias.

scoop neck, short puff sleeves and gathered
skirt. Her headpiece of daisies trimmed with
Venise lace secured her veil and she carried

Wearing similarly styled gowns were the
bridesmaids, Miss Joan Remaley in yellow
voile, and Miss Mary Margaret McCabe in
Nile green.
Russel Nixon was best man. John Gleason
and Patrick Rountree, brother of the bride,

A reception was held at Harding's
Restaurant, Youngslown. The newlyweds are
honeymooning in the New England states.

Coroner Henry C. Lapp Issued s certificate
of accidental death In the
case of Frank N. Brody, of 16 Cleveland
avenue, who lost his life when
he fen Into a shaving hopper at the
Tonawanda Island plant of the
Becker-Moore company earlier in
the day and suffocated.

A fingertip veil of illusion edged with

orchid and flue d'amore on a prayer
book.
The maid of honor, Miss Frances
Curcio, wore a yellow gown with
a full net skirt and satin bodice. Her
headpiece of fresh flowers matched
her bouquet of red roses and pom-

Faix were bridesmaids in Nile green
ensembles similiar to that of the
maid of honor.
Patricia Argy, the flower girl, was

Mr. James Reid.

Maria" and "Panis Angelicus." The

St. George's hall from 7 to 11 p.m.
The mother of the bride wore a
dress of peacock blue with black
velvet accessories. The bridegroom's
mother favored an orchid dress with
black velvet accessories. Each wore
corsages of yellow roses.
For her wedding trip the bride
selected a tangerine suit with black
accessories. An orchid corsage will
complement her ensemble. Mr. and
Mrs. Clark will honeymoon in

Harold Faba officiated at the 3 p.m. double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold Schrader, 165 Lake St. and the
bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Betts, 131 Lake St.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride
wore a gown of gardenia white starched
organza trimmed with a Chantilly lacv border.
The gown was fashioned with a scoop neckline,
tapered sleeves and bouffant skirt which ter-
minated in a chapel length train. A double
crown of Venise lace accented with pearls
caught her silk illusion bouffant veil and she.
carried a cascade of white carnations and
ivy centered with Ian orchid.
Mrs. Larry Bulmer was matron of honor.
She wore a gown of orchid lace and chiffon
with a sleeveless coat accented with satin
Dior bows at the shoulders. A coronet of
flowers held her four tier veil and she carried
a cascade of white carnations.
Similarly attired were the bridesmaids,
Mrs. Wayne Everett and Miss Cynthia
Seefeldt.
Larry- Bulmer was best man for his
brother. Ushers were Victor A. Betts Jr.,
brother of the bridegroom and Craig Schrader,
brother of the bride.
A reception was held in the Wilson Fire
Hall after the ceremony. Upon their return
from a wedding trip to Cape Cod and the
.New England States the couple will make
their home in Harbor Trailer Park.

G. W, Eighme died at 9 o'clock Friday
morning at his late home' in the town of
Cambria. Deceased was 79 years old and
had been a resident ol Niagara county for
over 40 years. lie was born in Erie county,
and after spending a successful manhood
there moved to the town of Cambria, where
he hat! resided ever since. During his long
residence in Niagara county he had drawn
to him, by j u s t and upright dealing, a very
large citele of friends, who will be pained
to learn of his demise. He. was a member
of the Cambria Center Church, where his
support will be greatly missed. In political
life Mr. Eighme was a Democrat, and as
such made a good record. In 1843 he was
married to Miss Catherine Halifax of Lockport.

Buffalonian Wades in Rapids and
Is Swept to Death over Cataract
Hat and Coat Left on Bank Are Identified as Belonging to George
R. Streicher; Father Knows of No Reason for Son's Act.

feet above the brink of the American
falls, George R. Streicher, 217 Northampton
street, Buffalo, was swept to
hla death at 6.30 pjn. Saturday. The
man was Identified through a hat and
coat which he left on a bench on Luna
Island, He sat on the bench for sometime
and finally walked to the water's
edge and waded Into the rapids after
looking at them for a few moments,
entering the water from the north side
of Luna island.
He was carried off his feet by the
treacherous current and swept over the
brink of the falls about 15 feet from
the shore. A careful search of the lower
river has failed to reveal a trace of
the body. George Streicher, Sr.. father
of. the dead man, was notified and
identified the coat and hat as belonging
to his son. In the pockets of the
coat were papers Indicating that the
garment was Streicher's property. The
coat was of blue material with a white
pin stripe and the hat was a straw
sailor, with a blue band.
The elder Streicher told Tracey G.
Levee, reservation police superintendent,
that he knew no. reason for his
son's act. Pour persons, tourists, saw
Streicher go to his. death. They told
Police they had no opportunltv of stop-
ping Streicher and that they had no
Idea he was going t o commit suicide
until he waded Into the swift current.
The tourists were Mr. and Mrs. John
Davis 23 Newcomb street, Rochester
and J. W. Raynor and Raymond Hal-
stead, both of Wellsburg, N.Y.

Miss Suzanne Lawson and Eleanor
Paperin were flower girls. They
wore dusty pink silk net toe-length
dresses, trimmed with blue velvet
bows. They both carried colonial
bouquets of pink roses and baby's
breath, with pink ribbon streammers.
John Donovan acted as best man
and the ushers were Edward Theodore,
Casimer Bland and John Henderson.
The bride's mother wore black
crepe with white trimming and
black accessories and a shoulderette
of pink tea roses.
The mother of the bridegroom
wore a grey dress with wine accessories
and a shoulderette of red

was given at the Red Coach Inn
for the immediate families.
A reception was held from 2 to 4

Wollaber. 86 years old. wife of the
late Charles Wollaber,- died early
this morning at the family home,
in West street, after a long period
of ill health.
Mrs. Wollaber was born in the
town of Lockport and had been a
lifelong resident of Niagara county.
She married the late Mr, Wollaber
in 1891 and for some years after
their marriage resided on a farm
in the town of Cambria. They came
to make their home in Sanborn
in 1921. Mrs. Wollaber in former
years was an active member of

the Unlversalist church at North
Ridge, N. Y.
She is survived by two sons, Ed-
gar, of North Ridge, and Oscar,
of Pekin, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs.
Mary mcNeil, of North Ridge,
Blanch Sabin and Cora Sabin, both
of this village; one brother, Wil-
liam Sabin, of North Ridge, and
five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at

the West street home Saturday

phlne Mills, 84. died at her home
here on Saturday after a brief ill-
ness. Mrs. Mills is survived by one
son, Ray Hooter, and two grandsons,

West street, Sanborn. Mrs. Mills
was the widow of Thomas Mills and
a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
John Wiseman. She was born in
the family home in the Saunders
Settlement road, two miles east of
Sanborn. Several nieces and nephews
also survive. Mrs. Mills had always
lived in Sanborn and vicinity until
a few years ago when she came to
make her home here.
The funeral services will be held
tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
at the home of the son at Sanborn.

Sanborn Baptist church will offici-

NORTH TONAWANDA-
Spencer P. Carney. 61, of .12
Payne Ave., died unexpected-
ly Thursday (Aug. 23, 1960)
while driving his car in Harlem
Rd. at Sheridan Drive.
Town of Amherst. Erie County.
Erie County Medical Examiner
James J. Creighton telephoned
Amherst police and
reported Mr. Carney suffered
no apparent injury but that
the victim had suffered a
heart attack.
Carney's auto, veering out
of control, sped across. Sheridan
through a red light into
moving traffic. His car struck
another v e h i c l e causing
minor injuries to the occupants.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Donohue, of Williamsville.
They were treated in Sisters
Hospital, Buffalo and released.
Amherst police said the
Carney car was northbound
in Harlem Rd. The light for
Harlem traffic w a s red and
traffic in Sheridan was be-
ginning to move when Carney's
ato shot into the traffic.
It came to rest in shrubbery
along Sheridan Dr .
Mr. Carney was a lifelong
resident of this city and was
employed as a plumber. He
was a member of St. Francis
of Assisi Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Sophia Balling Carney; two
sons, James and Jack Carney,
both of this city; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Floyd Meyers,
Hayes, this city and six
grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at
8:30 a.m. Saturday at the
Hamp Funeral Home, follow-
ed by Requiem Mass at 9 in
St. Francis Church. Burial
will be in Mt. Oliver Ceme-
tery.

CARNEY - Spencer P. Carney,
61, of 12 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda,
died unexpectedly Thursday
(Aug. 25, 1960). Born in Tonawanda,
Mr. Carney was a resident
of the Tonawandas all his life.
He was employed as a plumber
and was a member of St. Francis
of Assisi Church. Surviving are his
wife, Sophia (nee Balling)
Carney; two sons, James and Jack
Carney, and a daughter, Mrs. Roger
Hayes, all of the Tonawandas;
another daughter, Mrs. Floyd
Meyers of Lockport, and six
grandchildren. Friends may call
at the Hamp Funeral Home Inc.,
37 Adam St., Tonawanda, where
prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, followed by a Requiem
High Mass in St. Francis of Assisi
Church at 9 a.m., the Rev.
William Yaeger officiating. Burial
in Mt. Olivet Cemetary.

LOCKPORT - A one-time
farmer and retired watchman
at Loekport Mills Inc., Walter
M. Schultz, 82, of 9 Adam St.,
suffered a fatal heart attack
today (Aug. 26, 1961) at his
home.
The first aid squad of the
Fire Department was summoned
about 1 a.m. and administered
Inhalator treatment
for 45 minutes but was
unable to revive Mr. Schultz.
Born in Cambria, Sept. 8,
1878, Mr. Schultz was the son
of the late William and Mary
Cloy Schultz. He farmed for
many years in the Ransomville
area before coming to
Loekport 17 years ago. He retird
from Loekport Mills in
1956.
Survivors i n c l u d e his
widow, the former Florence M.
Flynn; four daughters, Miss
Violet Schultz and Mrs. Donald
Wilson, both of Ransomvill;
Mrs. Fred Ingram, Lockport,
and Mrs. Cletius Rothrock,
North Tonawanda; two
sons, Walter and F r a nk
Schultz, both of Ransomville;
a brother, Herman Schultz,
Newfane; 11 grandchildren
and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gaul
Funeral Home by Rev. Ivan
Lange. Burial will be in
North Ridge Cemetery.

Sattelberg, 64, of 109 Caledonia
St., died Tuesday (Aug. 25,
1970) at Lockport Memorial!
Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Wheatfield,
the son of Charles , and Ann
Engersen Sattelberg, and had
lived here for the last 42 years.
He had been employed as a
sample maker for the National
Gypsum Co. in Clarence Center
for 34 years, retiring two years
ago.
Mr. Sattelberg was a member:
of the Immanuel Lutheran
Church at Tonawanda
He is survived by his widow,
Nellie H. Sattelberg; two sons.
Edward K. of Lockport and
Walter C. of Gasport; a sister,
Mrs. Eleanor Rossow of
Clarence; a brother, Laverne
Sattelberg of Newfane; eight
grandchildren.
Friends may call at the
Lange Funeral Home where
services will Be held at 2 p.m.

consultant to the R. C. Neal Co.
He was a member of the
American Management
Association and the Harvard
Business School Club of Buffalo.
He Is survived by his widow,
the former Ester Schultz; his
mother, Mrs. Caroline Strebe;
two daughters, Miss Ruth
Strebe and Mrs. LaVerne
(Lois) Kolbe, all of thlscity; a
son, the Rev. Edward L. Strebe
Jr., of Las Vegas, N.M.; a
brother, Norman Strebe, of
Washington, D.C.; and five
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be

Brunner Funeral Home. The
