Milleville (Barrs), age 94, of Sanborn, formerly of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 8, 2010, while at the Niagara Hospice House. Born in Ransomville, NY, on July 1, 1916, to the late Leroy and Mary (Seefeldt) Barrs. A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, she was employed as a waitress at various local restaurants and later as a teacher's aide at Niagara Wheatfield High School. Lenore was a member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and active with the Ladies Aid. Lenore was a member of the Sanbornites and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens. Hobbies and interests included sewing, reading, knitting afghans and will always be remembered for her sense of humor. Lenore was predeceased by her husband, Edward E. Milleville on December 8, 1987; and two sisters, Veda Goltare and Janice Harvey. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Glenn) Walck of Sanborn; three grandchildren, Timothy (Brenda) Walck of Wheatfield, Tammy (Bill) Anderson of Pendleton and Darci (Rob) Hoover of Sanborn; seven great-grandchildren, Dillon, Reanna, Cory, Billy, Shelby, Robbie and Katelyn; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care given by the entire staff of Niagara Hospice House and Judy Johnson, R.N, Niagara Hospice home care nurse. She was highly respected and much beloved by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who will mourn her death. Miss Zeiger was born In the town of Nlsgar or. March 21, 1852. Later she moved to this city, where she had resided ever since. She is survived by one sister. Louisa Zeiger: one brother, former City Treasurer Frank Zeiger. and one cousin. Helnrich Uhl. She was a daughter of the late Louis Zeiger. who settled in western New York in 1847. For the last seven years of her life Miss Zeiger had been totally blind. She studied and mastered, however, -tha art of reading by means of raised letters, which is the language of the blind, and read much, keeping well i n formed She also bravely overcame her affliction to the extent of attending to many household duties. Never once did she utter a complaint despite the affliction of blindness and always she bore her lot with a cheerfulness and fortitude which endeared her to all her friends and acquaintances. Her mother taught in Herkimer for 10 shillings a week, before the trip to the "West," with four of her mother's cousins and their wives, was made by a horse-drawn canal boat. Miss Wollaber lived in the Ridge road near Molyneaux Corners with her late brother, Charles H. Wollaber. Until three years ago, her health was good and she made frequent trips downtown with her niece. Nieces and nephews are the nearest surviving relatives, including William Barnum, Niagara Falls, Mrs. Grace Smith, Mrs. Flora Blood and Fred Farnum, all of Wilson, Oscar Wollaber. 21594 | Niagara Gazette - 9/10/1970 Mrs. Gertrude M. Bechtel Alcorn, 76, of 3721 Military Road, Town of Niagara, died at home Wednesday (Sept. 9, 1970) after a two-year illness. A resident of the Town of Niagara, she was active most of her life In town affairs. She was the widow of Halvin R. Alcorn, who died in 1966. He was a former peace justice in the Town of Niagara and a civic leader. ° She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the past Mar tha Society at the church, the Niagara-Wheatfield Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Niagara No. 3 Community Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Niagara No. 1 Fire Co. Survivors include three daughters, Verna E. Alcorn of Town of Niagara, Mrs. William H, (Shirley) Strasburg of Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. William G. (Betty) Dugan of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of this city, six grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at the Rhoney Funeral Home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ivan L. Lange, vice pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Lewiston, she llived all of her life in Western New York, and had lived in Pletcher Road for 50 years. She was a member of the Niagara United Presbyterian Church. The widow of William A. Sat- telberg, she is survived by a son, Howard Sattelberg of Youngstown; a daughter, Mrs. Ryland (Helen) Badby of the Town of Niagara; five grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 21598 | Niagara Gazette - 9/11/1923 One of the prettiest of the early autumn weddings was that celebrated at 5:30 o'clock on Saturday after- noon, September 8th, at the home of Mrs. Frederick W. Gray, No. 444 Eleventh street, when her sister, Alice Emma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Biggar of Niagara Falls, Ont., became the bride of John Clifford Bullock of that city. The Rev. A. S. Bacon officiated in the presence of 49 relatives and friends. The living room, where the ceremony was performed, was prettily and sim- ply decorated with palms, ferns an d bouquets of yellow flowers. The bride was charming in a gown of white Molly-O crepe and wore a veil of tulle. She carried a shower bou- quet of bride's roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Wini- fred Green, wore a gown of maize chiffon over satin and carried a bou- of Phelia roses. Mrs. Gray wore a gown of pink crepe de chene and a corsage bouquet of pink roses. The groom was attended by Captain John Vandersluys of Niagara Falls Ont. Little Miss Virginia Gray acted as train bearer. Miss Arlene Gray played the wedding march and Mr. Frederick W. Gray sang Palmer John Clark's "This is My Commandment." accompanied by Miss Luella Lam- berton, a cousin of the bride. A luncheon was served following the ceremony, covers being laid at the bride's table for ten. The out of town guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bullock, the Misses Dorothy, Fredda and Ethel Bullock and Master Robert Bullock of Kit- chener, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Lamberton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lamberton and Miss Luella Lamber- ton of Rochester, N.Y.; Mr. Arthur Biggar of Ithace, N.Y.; Mr. Hilliard Montgomery of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Caroline Durdan, Mrs. William Dur- dan, the Misses Alice and Marian Durdan, Mrs. Frank Messing, Mrs. John Riley and Miss Herseo Bullock of Buffalo, N.Y.
