Saturday, August 21, when Miss Delores Eagan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Eagan and Donald Bellis, son of Mr, and Mrs Ear! Bellis, Youngstown, N. Y., were united in marriage. The altar was decorated with white gladioli and palms. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John A. Weismantel performed the double ring ceremony. Leon Peuquet sang "The Blessed Virgin Mary" and "Ave Maria" accompanied by Mrs. William Bacon, organist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white marquisette and chantilly lace, wfth an illusion neckline edged with lace. The skirt of marquisette was fashioned with a pep- Ium of the lace and fell into a full length train. Her finger tip veil of illusion cascaded from a tiara caught at each side with orange blossoms. She canned a cascade of gardenias, carnations and snapdragons. Miss Delores Muck as maid of honor, wore a gown of blue satin fashioned with a full hooped skirt. The bridesmaids, Miss Betty Bellis, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Ardith Reitsch, aunt of the bride, wore similar gowns of pink satin. Miss Ann Reitsch, cousin of the bride and junior bridesmaid wore blue marquisette. All wore headdresses of net to match their gowns and carried colonial bouquets. Master Billy Haas, wearing a white suit, was the ring bearer. Felix Lombardi attended the bridegroom as best man and the ushers were Albert Dier and Charles Wheeler. The bride's mother chose a black crepe dress with black accessories and wore a corsage of yellow roses and carnations. The mother of the bridegroom, also wore black crepe and a corsage of pink roses and carnations. A wedding breakfast was served at Fanger's restaurant for the wedding party and the irrimediate families. A reception followed in Cleveland Hall for 200 guests. 21753 | Niagara Gazette - 9/11/1951 A refugee family brought out of Germany by the Church World service under the sponsorship of the Cui Bono class of St. Paul's Methodist church school has been officially welcomed to this country by the church's minister and congregation. The refugees are Akim Birjukow, his wife. Dora, and their two small sons. Josef, six. and Nikolaj. 4 1/2. On hand to greet the Birjukow family at the morning worship Sunday were the Rev. John A. Redmond and George V. Leazer, president of Cui Bono class. Mr. Birjukow, who was born in Ukrainia, was a farmer in his youth and also had experience as a miner and metal worker. In 1943 he was deported from the Ukraine into Germany as a laborer and worked in a factory in Munich during the war. After the liberation of Germany he was a worker in a DP work camp. Mrs. Birjukow is a native of Poland. During the war single men and women in Poland were deported to Germany Since her three sisters and one brother were all married at the time of deportation, Dora was the only member of her family sent off to Germany alone at the age of 14 and has seen none of her family since her. departure from Poland. She met Mr. Birjukow after the war ended and Americans were in Germany. Upon their arrival in Niagara Falls the family were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leazer and their son, Billii. while housing for them was being arranged. The father will work for the Vanadium corporation. Both Mr .and Mrs. Birjukow speak Russian and German and Mrs. Birjukow speaks Polish. They plan to learn English as soon as possible. Josef will enter school where the subject of English will become his major endeavor. Through Mr. Matthew Krencisz, a member of St. Paul's church, acting as interpreter, Mr. and Mrs. Birjukow have expressed their joy at arriving in America and their great pleasure in being surrounded with so many friendly people. 21775 | Niagara Gazette - 9/12/1964 YOUNGSTOWN - A grinding head-on collision in treelined River Road early today claimed the lives of four persons, including three teenagers. State police and residents who live near the accident scene termed it one of the worst in Niagara County history. Dead are: Robert Luzak, 26. 6713 Ralph Court, Town of Niagara, who was driving alone. Thomas F. Welch, 19, of 1099 Smith St., Buffalo. Roger W. Cowder, 17, Roosevelt Beach, Wilson. Janice Marilyn Barry, 16, oi Lake Road, Ransomville. State police were called to the scene shortly before 1 a.m. Swerved to Left Police said the Luzak vehicle was southbound in River Road about a mile north of Pletcher Road when it failed to make a curve, swerved into, the left lane and piled into the oncoming car carrying the three youngsters. Police said the Welch youth was driving the second car. He was also listed as the owner. The sound of the impact brought several nearby residents to the scene. One witness said it was the only two-car crash she could remember in the area. Scene of Accidents This winding section of River Road has been the scene.of several one-car accidents and several lives have been lost as a result of these s.mashups, mostly c r a s h es against trees. A 35-mile limit is posted for the five-mile stretch between Lewiston and Youngstown. Police said the damage done to the two vehicles indicated excessive rates of speed. An observer told the Gazette the car carrying the teen-agers was traveling at a high rate of speed and the other was moving at a normal pace. Victim Imprisoned Douglas Wagner of Youngstown, owner of a collision shop, was called by police to help extricate Luzak. Mr. Wagner said he had to cut through the door post and back of the car seat with a torch to remove the victim. He said the operation took about 15 minutes. The shoe of one of the victims was imbedded in the twisted remains of the dash and floorboard. The death vehicles were towed to Youngstown and left at Wagner's and Kulak's auto wrecking service. The .cars drew several curiosity seekers this morning. Shuns Road A youth peered into one of the cars and examined the piles of shattered glass and broken metal. He turned to a reporter and said: "I never take that road home anymore." Lewiston and Youngstown ambulance teams took the four victims to Memorial Hospital in Niagara Falls. Investigator R a l p h Fuller and Trooper Frank P a n z a headed the state police investigating team. They were aided by Frank Wasco of the Lewiston Village police and Constable Steven Sarkozy of the Town of Niagara. Oxygen was given some of the victims by first-aid teams. Toll Now Is 20 The Niagara County Sher- Iff's Department said the fatality toll rose to 20 as a result of the accident. The figure is for fatal crashes on" county highways outside the",, three cities. Miss Barry was a cheerleader and a member of the Yorkers Club at Wilson Cen* trab School. She was a senior. A friend of Janice said "she was a very pretty girl and a good student. She had red hair and freckles." Janice is survived by her parents, Mr.,and Mrs. Francis Barry; a brother, Duane, and three sisters, Gail, Barbara, and Beverly. Bomberry, 21, of 1112 Willow Ave. was killed in Vietnam Friday (Sept. 6, 1968) when a wave of Viet Cong smashed into his company 20 miles northwest of Saigon. The 300 enemy troops, herding women and children in front of them as human shields, broke through a U.S. cordon to attack the 101st Airborne Division, to which Sgt. Bomberry was assigned. 31 Are Killed Thirty-one Americans were killed in the battle. Sgt. Bomberry was reported missing in action Friday. His parents received word of his death Saturday. Born in Niagara Falls April 4, 1947, Sgt. Bomberry was the son of Mrs. William H. Malaney Jr. and the late Harry Bomberry.. He was a 1965 graduate of -Troot Vocatonal High School and was employed by Union Carbide Corp. at the time he entered the Army in April 1967. He was sent to Vietnam last April. Survivors Listed Surviving in addition to his mother are his step-father, William H. The gown was styled with bishop sleeves, crown neckline and bodice accented with beaded Alencon lace. A Camelot cap of lace medallions secured her bouffant veil and she carried a basket of white roses, yellow and orchid carnations. ° » ° MISS SHARON MORGANTI, maid of honor for her sister, wore a maize dotted swiss gown with A - l i ne silhoutte, designed with high neck,, bishop sleeves and white accents. She wore a matching organza looped bow with streamers and carried a basket of yellow daisies and orchid pompons. Similarly attired, in orchid gowns were the bridesmaids, Mrs. Joseph Smiech, Miss Judi Eodice and Miss Linda Toscano. Best man - was N i ck Cristiano. brother of t he bridegroom. She was born June 23,1907, in Wan-en, Pa., the daughter of Albert and Lena Young McNab and was a member of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd L. Bayne, a son, Lloyd B. Bayne, three grandchildren and a brother, Albert McNab Sr., all of Lockport. 21799 | Niagara Gazette - 9/14/1903 ROBBED THE GUESTS AT A WEDDING Since the wedding of Mr. David Simon Stoltz and Miss Jennie Alice Kline, both of Niagara Falls, celebrated the lawn at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and' Mrs. Paul near Sanlborn, N. Y., on Wed- nesday of last week,.iit has been dis covered that thieves were in attendance and had robbed the guests and the bride-and groom of several pieces of silverware, the wedding gifts of their friends. The wedding was on the lawn. While the guests were interested in the wedding services,.the thieves entered the home and went through the dressing rooms, stealing the guests purses. They stole money belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Kline and even went so far as to take some Wedding presents. Tlie discovery was not made until after the wedding and tlie guests did not report their losses until a day or two later. This suggested an investigation and it was not until they learned' that the wedding presents had been stolen. Four men in an automobile are suspected. They came from Buffalo and took part in the wedding ceremonies.as though they wore among the invited. No one seemed to know who they were and later it was discovered that they were not among the invited guests. The lawn was attractively, decorated end Illuminated with Japanese lanterns and t he guests, relatives and friends of the families were in attendance from this city which is the home of the. groom, from Sanborn, the Home of the bride, and other places, about 150 g u e s t s altogether. The Rev. J. Ford Leffler. pastor of St! James M. E . Church of this city performed the ceremony which took place on t h e l a w n The bride was a t tended by her sister, Miss Bertha D. Kline and the best man was Mr. Harry Hayes of N i a g a r a Falls South. Out. A wedding supper was served following the Being of the nuptial knot in a tent oii the lawn.
