Warblow, 92, formerly of Pine Street, North Tonawanda, died Saturday (Dec. 5, 1998) in Crestwood Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, where he had been a patient since May 21, 1997. Warblow was born in North Tonawanda. He worked for the New York Central Railroad from 1923 to 1971. He was a member of Local 36, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. After his retirement, Warblow spent much of his time refinishing furniture and caning chairs. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, and the Lutheran Laymen's League. Survivors include a son, David; a brother, Glenwood; and a sister, Arlene Harms, all of North Tonawanda; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Paul-Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz. Schultz, of Lewiston Road, died Sunday (Feb. 19, 1989) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. A native of Niagara Falls, he served as a quartermaster with the Army Air Forces in Europe and the Pacific during World War II. Schultz worked as the marketing manager for 42 years, until his retirement in 1982. He was a past council president of St. Paul-Calvary Church, a post he held for nine years. He was a past chairman of the church Worship Committee, a member of the church choir and a member of the board of directors of Meals on Wheels in Niagara Falls. The former Clara Bishing, a native of the Town of Newstead, graduated from the Clarence Training School and was a 1932 graduate of the former Geneseo State Normal School. She taught in the Sandhill schools in Newstead in the early 1930s. A Wilson resident for 53 years, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had been superintendent of the Sunday school there for many years. She also was a member of the Womens of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of the auxiliaries of Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital and the Wilson Conservation Club, and also was a member of the Wilson Historical Society. Surviving are her husband, Harold Marcks; two daughters, Mona Baker of Rochester and Marlene Schotz of Wilson; and six grandchildren. Born Marian Warne in Medina, she graduated from Medina High School in 1937. In 1954, she married Paul B. Nemeschy, who survives her Mrs. Nemeschy worked as a secretary for H. J. Heinz and DuPont de Nemours & Co. for 10 years and for Dr. Harvey Blanchet for 20 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member for more than 40 years of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she formerly was treasurer of the building fund. She also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Medina Memorial Hospital Association of Twigs and coordinator of the Twig Reception Desk Volunteers for 11 years. She also served on the Twig Board and wrote the Twig Talk news items for a number of years. She was a member of the Welcome Rebekah Lodge 146. Becken, a lifelong Cambria resident, worked briefly at the former Wurlitzer Co. in North Tonawanda and then became a truck driver for the state Department of Transportation, working mostly out of its Lockport garage. He retired in 1980. Becken also operated a fruit farm on Upper Mountain Road and a fruit stand at the Clinton-Bailey Market in Buffalo. He was a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau. Becken was a longtime member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin. His wife, the former Lillian Scheffler, died in 1966. Mrs. Schultz taught porcelain arts in her home for many years and was a member of the Great Lakes Porcelain Arts Teachers and Associates. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where she taught Sunday school, served as church organist and was a member of the Grace Ladies. Born in Wheatfield, Strassburg had lived on Randall Road since his marriage to the former Ethel Schultz in 1938. For many years, Strassburg was a self-employed carpenter and builder. He also was a vegetable farmer for about 15 years, selling produce at the farmers market in Buffalo. In 1967, he joined the local staff of the state Parks and Recreation Department as a plumber, retiring after 10 years. Strassburg was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, Cambria, and a former member of the Wilson Lions Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He joined the Niagara County Sheriff's Department in November 1970 and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a member of the Niagara County Sheriff's Association, the National Rifle Association, the Buffalo Zoological Society and the National Wildlife Federation and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cambria. Schweichler, 65, well known florist of 155 Division street, died suddenly last night in the Y.M.C.A. at 45 West Mohawk street, Buffalo. Mr. Schweichler had been in the habit of going to the association building for many years to take steam baths. It was while taking one of the baths last evening that he complained of pains of the stomach and was advised by an attendant to lie on a cot and rest himself. He died a few minutes later. Medical examiner Francis M. Kyjawa issued a certificate of death from natural causes. Mr. Schweichler was born in Germany. He came to America at the age of 25 and settled in North Tonawanda 33 years ago. He had always been engaged in the florist business. | 30748 | The Evening News, Apr 8, 1925 CHRISTOPHER MOELLER, FORMER NORTH SIDE CONSTABLE, DEAD Christopher Moeller, fifty-three years old, a former North Tonawanda constable and resident of the Gratwick section of the city for many years, died today at his home on the Ward road, St. Johnsburg, after a lingering illness. Moeller was born in Germany. He came to America fortv-four years ago and located with his family in North Tonawanda, where he resided until thirteen years ago when he removed to St Jonnsburg and engaged in the hotel business. He was a local member of the Orioles and Eagles and of the sick benefit associations of St. Johnsburg. Bergholtz, Martinsville and Wheatfield. Surviving are a wife, five sons. Edwin E. Moeller of Niagara Falls, Clarence H. Moeller of Johnsburg; Elton E.. Ervin H. and Frank P. Moeller of St Johnsburg, one daughter, Mrs. Gordis Knapp of Tonawanda; six grandchildren, four brothers. Charles, Frederick and William Moeller of North Tonawanda and August Moeller of LaSalle. and two sister, Mrs. Martzell of Germany and Mrs. Fred Grefrath of North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and at 2:45 o'clock at the St. Peter's church, on Oliver street. Rev. Theadore Mueller officiating. Urtel Brooded Over His Physical Condition WAS UNABLE TO WORK Injuries Sustained in Fall Last Summer Responsible - Ends Life While member of Family are attending Easter Services Henry F. Urtel, 60 years old, of No. 332 Thompson street committed suicide about 11 o'clock yesterday morning by hanging himself to a beam in the cellar of his home with a clothesline. His body was discovered by members of the family on returning home from church about 11:00 o'clock and cut down. Dr. A. T. Leonard was called but life was extinct when he arrived. Urtel, who was a carpenter by occupation, was injured about the head in a fall while working at the North Tonawanda pumping station last summer and had been unable to work since. It is said that he brooded over his condition recently and much more then usual during the spring-like weather that has prevailed for the past few days. While other members of the family left to attend Easter services at St. Matthew's Lutheran church on Wheatfield street yesterday morning, Urtel excused himself, saying he feel like going out. His absence when the family returned home caused a search to be instituted, which resulted in the finding of his body hanging in the cellar. Besides his wife, Urtel is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Fritz, who resided with him, four brothers, August Urtel of Middleport, Frank and Rudolph Urtel of Lockport and Theodore Urtel of Kitchener, Ont., and one sister, Mrs. Albert Retzloff of Wolcottsville. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence and will be private. Rev. Rosebrock is claimed by death Prominent North Tonawandan Succumbed This Morning at His Home on Payne Avenue Held Many Public Offices Funeral Monday Herman J. Rosebrock, one of North Tonawanda's best known citizens died this morning at his home on Payne avenue. His death followed a prolonged illness. He was born in Germany, coming to North Tonawanda at the age of 17 and continuing his residence here. He held a number of public offices, including alderman, supervisor and commissioner of public works. He was a staunch Democrat. For many years he was prominently identified with the Pioneers' association of Niagara county, having held different offices in the organization, including that of president. Helped Organize Church He was one of the founders of St. Matthew's church on Wheatfield street and had been active in its proceedings up to the time that illness made it impossible to give the church the benefit of his counsel. He is survived by three sons, William J., Herman J., Jr., and Albert; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and half an hour later at St. Matthew's church, Rev.
