31505 | Utica NY Herald Dispatch Boonville. Aug. 4.-Ira Briggs, aged 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Briggs of Boonville. was drowned here shortly before noon to-day. He was in swimming; in the Black River Canal in what Is known as the Kent bridge. about a mile south of the village.The boy and several companions were In swimming about 11:10 o'clock this morning*. It Is believed young Briggs was seised with cramps, as he could swim fairly welt. The water was about six feet deep where he was drowned. The other boys saw him floundering In the water less than 30 feet from shore and they pushed a long pole t o htm He appeared dased and unable to understand that they were trying to aid him. The body had not been recovered early -this afternoon. Coroner Haberer Is in charge. Besides his parents the boy Is sur- vived by several brothers and sisters. Her maiden name was Laura Stone. She was bom In the town of Western, December 8. 1845. and in that town, January 23, 1867. married Mr. Annis, and soon thereafter they went to Waverly. la. There they lived some time and then returned east and went to Hyland Mills where Mr. Annis operated the factory in which was made the first factory cheese. She was a member of the Wealeyan Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband and one sister and one brother. Levee. aged 56 . of 73 South street, died suddenly yesterday afternoon during the rain storm. and it is believed that fright led to her death. Mrs. Levee had all her life been very much afraid of lightning and it was her custom when a alarm came up to shut herself in a small pantry- Yesterday afternoon she saw a flash of lightning and with a scream ran to the pantry. A few moments later she called for help and when the door was opened she was found lying on the door groaning. Her son. George, carried his mother to a couch, threw some water In her face and summoned Dr. Falrbank. but Mrs. Levee was dead when the physician arrived. It is supposed that fright and the heat affected her heart. She bad been in poor health for some time. No inquest will be held. Mrs Levee was born in Little Falls December 9. 1853. And her maiden name was Marian Angel. In 1872. she married Mr. Levee. For a tlme they lived in Oneida. For the last 20 years she had resided In Utica. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and possessed a wide circle of friends. In addition to her husband she is survived by one son. George: one daughter. Mrs. Mabel Steele, both of Utlca; one sister. Mrs. William Jones of Clint o n : three brothers. Henry. Zenith and Willis Angel all of Oneida; a father. George F. 31517 | Utica NY Oberver - 5/26/1977 Mrs. Eva Keilmurray, 87. of 1904 Butterfield Ave, died Wednesday May 25, 1977. She was born in Rome, September 1, 1889 a daughter of George and Alice Potter Bowman. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1907 and came to Utica that same year. She entered the School of Nursing in Faxton Hospital and graduated from there in the Class of 1910. In 1912 she was married to William T. Kellmurray, who died in 1937. After her husband's death she returned to nursing at Faxton Hospital and started the first Central Supply Room there and was in charge of that until she retired in 1963. Mrs. Kellmurray was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Faxton Hospital Alumni. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Luke of New Hartford; one sister, Mrs. K. Irene Nelson Of New- Hartford; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Jean) Relnwald of Hamilton died in 1971. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a sabrina necklined gown of silk taffeta with tapered sleeves and a bell skirt with a bouffant back bow and a cathedral train. Bouffant veiling fell from a headpiece of crystals. The bride carried a prayer book with white orchids and ivy. Mrs. Paul Ciruzzi was matron of honor for her cousin. Campbell Sr., 76, of Sylvan Beach, a former-auto- dealer in Oneida, died Friday In the Oneida City hospital from injuries. he suffered in a fall and from pneumonia. Dr. George R. Kinsella, Madison County coroner, aft- er an autopsy, said that Mr. Campbell suffered three brok- en left ribs and pneumonia developed. He was admitted to the hospital at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Campbell, police said, fell while at the Zimmerman Boarding Home, 239 Lexing- ton Ave., where he lived. He was born at North Bay. He was a life resident of this vicinity, except for a few years in Syracuse, where he was engaged in mason work. He operated a canal boat on the Black River and Erie Canals from 1910 to 1922. He also operated a sandpit and sand block works near Alder Creek Station. Six years ago he started a service station operation on Rte. 28 at Alder Creek.
