Howard J. Moll, 39, of 1210 Ruie Rd., died suddenly yesterday morning of a heart attack. He was the son of the late Mrs. Lydia Moll of 1192 Ruie Rd., whose funeral was held yesterday afternoon. Born in Bergholz, he lived most of his life in North Tonawanda. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. Johnsburg. Surviving are his wife, Josephine, nee Pankow; a daughter, Karen Elaine; his father, William C. Moll; a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Coughlin of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. from the residence and at 2:30 P.M. from the St. John’s Church. The Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.

LUKASIK-Frank Lukasik, of 153 Eighth Ave., North Tonawanda, died in DeGraff Memorial Hospital Sunday (June 19, 1960) after a short illness. Born in Poland, he had resided in North Tonawanda for the past 45 years. He was employed at The Wurlitzer Co. and was a member of Local 350, IUE (AFL-CIO), and of St. Joseph's Society PRCU 436. Survivors include his wife, Mary (nee Zielinski); two daughters, Mrs. Frances Soos and Mrs. Frank (Jean) Jehrio; two sons, John F. and Frank; and 14 grandchildren, all of North Tonawanda; one sister in Poland. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:30 in Niagara Memorial Chapel, 549 Oliver St., and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. The Rev. Vincent L. Cyman will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet.

Shirley Wienke, ..... daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Wienke, Bergholz, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her parents after a brief illness. She was the only child. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later, standard time, at the St. Jacobs church, Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Interment will be in the St. Jacob's cemetery.

The funeral of Shirley Wienke, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Wienke, who died last Thursday from convulsions, caused by a whooping cough, was held last Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. Services were held from the home at two o'clock and at two thirty from the St. Jacob's church. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Bearers were I. Kuchenbecker. A. Schmeichel, M. Wienke and E. Hasley. Burial was in St. Jacob's cemetery. Rev. Otto Bruss officiated.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., and at 2:30 P.M. at the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. The Rev. Victor W. Dahlke will officiate. Interment in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Emma Strassburg, 44 years old, wife of William G. Strassburg, died Saturday afternoon at her home, 61 Jackson avenue, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Strassburg was born in the town of Wheatfield and lived at St. Johnsburg all her life until removing to North Tonawanda a week ago.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Strassburg is survived by five daughters, the Misses Regina, Loretta, Irene, Lucy and Ida Strassburg, one son, William G. Strassburg, Jr.; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Sasse, Buffalo, Mrs. Edward Doebler, North Ridge; Mrs. W. Heidenfeldt, Mrs. Albert Warblow, and Mrs. Henry Hardy of North Tonawanda and two brothers, William Pankow and Arthur Piper, North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence and at 2:45 o'clock at the St. John's church, St. Johnsburg, Rev. Walter Thiemecke officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's cemetery.

Gerald Witmer Hewitt, Sr., of Niagara Falls, died Friday, May 23, 2008 in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital. He was 90. He was born with twin brother, Harold Cleghorn Hewitt on February 5, 1918 in Springville, NY, to the late Alan and Lena (Laur) Hewitt. Raised and worked with his father and five brothers on their dairy farm on Upper Mountain Road, Lewiston. The Hewitt farm supplied large quantities of milk daily to residents of the area. There were 40 Holsteins and milking was a seven day a week two times a day job. In addition the farm raised corn, oats and alfalfa to feed the cattle. The Hewitt boys worked hard and played hard all year round. They had softball, basketball and hockey teams and school work too! Gerald graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1935. In 1941, he started work at the Union Carbide National Plant in Niagara Falls and retired in 1981 with 40 years service. As a sportsman, he enjoyed golf and bowling for over 60 years. He was Hyde Park Golf Club Champion in 1951 and City Golf Champ in 1952. He was inducted into the Niagara Falls Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1995, with a lifetime average of 190 and many championship trophies added to his collection. “Jerry will be missed by his golf and card playing friends.” He is survived by a son, Gerald W. (Karen) Hewitt, Jr. of San Jose, CA; a daughter, Sandra (late Ronald) Granieri of Niagara Falls; three brothers, Alfred L. (Lola) Hewitt of Niagara Falls, Richard A. (Jocelyn) Hewitt of Lawrence, KS, Kenneth C. (Ruth) Hewitt of Tacoma, WA; five grandchildren, Melanie (John T.)Loss of Grand Island, Ronald J. (Jennifer) Granieri of Lansdowne, PA, Rebecca (Robert) Stone of Sylvania, OH, Rachel (Guy) Hunt of Rochester, Alicia L. Hewitt of San Jose, CA; eight great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose M. Gerhard Henry "Giggs" Behm, 91, of White Bear Lake, Minn., died Thursday, Feb. 21. He and his twin sister, Gertrude, were born Oct. 30, 1916, in Hudson to George and Irene (Kahmeyer) Behm. Gerhard graduated from Hudson High School in 1936 and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Blue Lake Camp near Minocqua. He served in World War II in the 32nd Division of the U.S. Army on various islands in the Pacific Theater. After discharge he married Elaine Jeanette Legrid at their family farm in Star Prairie. They raised their family in rural Lake Elmo, Minn., and she died in 1985. He later married Iona Metzger. For most of his career he worked as a carpenter for Roy Shelgren Construction. Among those preceding him in death were siblings, Adella Krech, Gertrude Quarberg, Edith Swanson, Arthur Behm and Wallace Behm. Memorials are preferred to VFW Post 2115, Hudson. Mrs. Anna Proefrock, 78, died last evening in her residence, 100 Felton St., after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, and a member of the St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church and its Ladies’ Aid Society. Henry Voelker, 70 years old, a lifelong resident of Bergholz, died yesterday at his home on the Niagara road. He had been in ill health for the past eleven years but it was not until Tuesday, when he was stricken with paralysis, that his condition became serious. For the past 30 years Mr. Voelker had been proprietor of a general store at Bergholz. Surviving are a wife, Augusta; three sons, John Voelker of Buffalo, Charles Voelker of Niagara Falls and Henry Voelker, Jr., of Bergholz; seven daughters, the Misses Louise and Esther Voelker of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lebrecht Schultz and Mrs. Albert Grobengieser of Niagara Falls and Mrs. George Heuer, Mrs. Valerius Ferchen and Mrs. Remhard Wienke of Bergholz, and 20 grandchildren. Funeral of Henry Voelker Is Held
Was Born in Bergholtz; Had Lived There 70 Years.
BERGHOLTZ, July 28.-Henry Voelker, Sr., of Niagara street, who died at his home, removes one of the best known residents of Niagara county. Born in this village 70 years ago, he lived here all his life. For the past 30 years he had been proprietor of a general store on Niagara. street. Last week Tuesday he was stricken with paralysis from which he died Thursday morning. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the family home, and the St. Jacob's church, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial was in St. Jacob's cemetery. The floral tributes were many And beautiful. The funeral of Mrs. Clara Moll, 74 years old, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Brady, 91 Amber street, Buffalo, will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Moll home in Bergholtz, town of Wheatfield, at 2 o'clock and half an hour later at the Holy Ghost church in that village. Rev. John Kuchenbecker will conduct the services and burial will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.
Mrs. Moll sustained a fractured hip in a fall from a stepladder in her home six weeks ago. She was taken to Memorial hospital where she remained until Friday of last week when she was taken to the Brady home. She died on Saturday.
Mrs. Moll is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Brady and Mrs. Charles Smith, Buffalo; four sons, William, Tonawanda, Gustav, Niagara Falls, Edwin, Chicago, and Otto, Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Long Illness Fatal To Benjamin Jagow
Benjamin W. J. Jagow, 59, a lifelong resident of the town of Wheatfield, residing on the Niagara road in Bergholz, died yesterday at the Memorial hospital Niagara Falls, after an illness of several weeks.
One of the best known residents of the village, Jagow was a charter member and one of the organizers of the Bergholz Fire company. He was also member of the Zion Lutheran church on Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Gombert Jagow; a daughter, Helen Jagow, at home, and two brothers, Philip and Theodore Jagow of Niagara Falls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. from the residence and half an hour later from the Zion church. The Rev. George F. Heuer will conduct the rites and interment will be in Memorial Park, Niagara Falls.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ellman, Mrs. William Kohler and Mrs. Herman Schroeder; a son, Otto, all of North Tonawanda; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The will of Carl E. Haseley, late of Walmore, was filed with Surrogate Norman D. Fish at Lockport yesterday for probate. Herman B. Sommer, Daily Press Editor, Succumbs at 69
Herman B. Sommer, 69, editor of the Daily Press, died in his home at 797 Sweeney St. last night. A native of North Tonawanda and a graduate of North Tonawanda High School, Mr. Sommer in 1933 founded a weekly paper called the Niagara Frontier Press. It became a daily in 1940 under the name, Niagara Press, and later it was renamed Daily Press. Mr. Sommer was a former local correspondent for the old Buffalo Express. He worked for a time as an agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the Tonawandas and in New Jersey. He was a member of Salem Evangelical & Reformed Church, the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Association and the Columbia Hook and Ladder Company. He once held the positions of city clerk and superintendent of public works in North Tonawanda. He was an active Republican. The late Addison Sommer was his son. Mr. Sommer is survived by his wife, Lucy A.; a son, Sterling; three daughters, Mrs. John Heimgartner and Mrs. Clarence Hurtubise and Mrs. Lucille Williams of Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. William Glenn of Central Square, N.Y.; a brother, Alfred Sommer of Pittsburgh, and 12 grandchildren. Bayer, she is survived by one daughter, Jean Hillman of Lockport; one son, Donald Bayer of Pendleton; four brothers, Louis (Irene) Breitenbach, Walter (Mabel) Breitenbach, both of North Tonawanda, Henry Breitenbach of Niagara Falls and John (Loretta) Breitenbach of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Wendt of Sanborn and Mrs. Catherine Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren, Deborah Gandt, Melody and Duane Hillman and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Alan Gandt.
Friends may call Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, Inc., 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda where services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Charles W. Hobbs, Sr., officiating. Burial Bear Ridge Cemetery.

WOLF John W., age 61, of the Town of Wheatfield, suddenly Friday (October 22, 1982). Mr. Wolf was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and president of the Men's Club. Mr. Wolf was also a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and the American Legion, Wheatfield Post No. 1451. Mr. Wolf was an employee of Dresser Industries, General Abrasives Division. He is survived by his wife, Ardis (nee Haseley); a son, Gary, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Denis (Barbara) Savard of Riverside, Calif.; one granddaughter, Kristy; three brothers, Arthur E. (Beatrice) Wolf of Glen Burnie, Md.; Edwin (Alice) Wolf of Sanborn, and Kenneth (Marilyn) Wolf of Garden Grove, Calif.; three sisters, Alma Campbell of Belfast, N. Y., Mrs. Seymour (Lena) Lander of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Francis (Louise) Bish of Tonawanda; several nieces and nephews; brother of the late Benjamin Wolf. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Road, North Tonawanda, Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Ronald Oravec will officiate. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. The American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451 will meet at the funeral home Sunday at 8:15 p.m.

MUELLER - Clarence E. Mueller, 69, of 24 Fillner Ave., North Tonawanda,
Monday (Sept. 21, 1964) after a brief illness. Mr. Mueller was a lifelong
resident of North Tonawanda and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rescue
Fire Company and the Firemen's Benevolent Association. Beloved husband of
Elsie (nee Peter); father of Mrs. Myron (Pearl) Behnke, Mrs. Donald (Frieda)
Scott and Mrs. Clarence (Ruby) Licht, all of North Tonawanda; grandfather of
nine grandchildren; brother of Mrs. Ella Wurl of North Tonawanda;
half-brother of Edgar Stolzenburg of North Tonawanda; step-brother of Albert
and August Stolzenburg of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Rose Hoffmeister, Mrs. Ida
Behrens, Mrs. Sophia Radloff and Miss Anna Stolzenburg, all of Lockport, and
several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Fretthold Funeral Home from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev.
Enno Schmoock will officiate. Interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
