Born Jan. 29, 1896, in the Town of Newfane, he was the son of Fred and A d d le (Stockwell) Wilson. A veteran of World War I, he was a private first class in the 77th Division, 307th Infantry Bat talion, stationed in France, and was cited by the U.S. govern ment with the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross He retired a few years ago from the Lockport Felt division of the Carborundum Co. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the felt mill and of the Newfane A m e r i c an Legion post. He is survived by his wife, the former Viola Hanneman to whom he was married Nov. 1, 1921; four sons, James Wilson of Lockport, Lester Wilson of Mesa, Ariz., Donald Wilson of Newfane and Lee Wilson of Bar Harbor, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin C. 20917 | Niagara Gazette - 7/31/1893 Mrs. Elizabeth Mentz. Mrs. Elizabeth Mentz, wife of William P. Mentz, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning at the homestead on the River road, between this city and Lewiston. After being in feeble health for over two months Mrs. Mentz went to bed 10 weeks ago Saturday. Her condition, despite the best, medical attendance, continued to grow worse and on Friday it was recognized that her demise was but a matter of a short time. On Saturday her relatives were sent for and this morning they surrounded the bed as the end came peacefully. The cause of death, so far as known, was ulceration of the stomach, but with this diagnosis of the case the doctors have not been quite satisfied and an autopsy may be held to determine the exact cause. Mrs. Mentz was a daughter of Jacob J. Vogt of Niagara avenue this city. She was boui 53 years ago on the old Vogt homestead near the Devil's Hole property and was married 34 years ago to William P. Mentz. Their home has always been a happy one and death has clouded it now for the first time. She was a woman of true christian spirit and loved by many. Other surviving relatives besides her husband and father are one little daughter, ..Miss Lizzie Mentz, at home, one brother, J. G. Vogt. and four sisters, Mrs. William Shaeffer. Lockport; Mrs. H. Buck, 67, of 27.01 Welch Ave., owner of Bucky's Bowling Lanes and an active bowler himself, died Sunday (July 30, 1967) in Memorial Hospital, Mr. Buck, a native of Berg holtz, had lived in the city for the last'60 years. He was employed by Moore Business Forms for 40 years, and retired in 1954 as planning department head. After his retirement, he p u r c h a s e d Kajfacz Bowling Lanes and operated it as Bucky's Lanes, 2701 Welch Ave., until his death. Mr. Buck was a former member of the Elks and of the Loyal Order of Moose. Survivors include a son, Raymond E. Buck; a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Lucile Jane) Bickford; a brother, William Buck; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of this city. His wife, the former Helen Marcklinger, died in 1963. Funeral services will be held at the Rhoney Funeral Home at 8:1.5 a.m. Wednesday and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Born on June 15, 1919 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late William P. and Kathryn (Weining) Skipworth. On August 7, 1943, he married the former Bernice E. Wolfe.Mr. Skipworth attended schools in Rochester, NY and came to the Lewiston area in 1954. William worked for Loblaws Inc. and Peter J. Schmidt as a Store Manager for over 47 years. Following his retirement, for 10 years, he spent winters in Port Richey, FL. William enjoyed gardening and was an avid stamp and coin collector.In addition to his beloved wife, Bernice of 64 years, Mr. Skipworth is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Soos and Debra Wagner, both of Lockport, NY; two granddaughters, Tammy (Aaron) (nee Soos) Preisch and Kimberly Wagner, both of Lockport, NY and two great-grandsons, Tyler and Aidan Preisch.There will be no prior visitation. She was born in Wilson on May 8, 1907, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Minnie Seelow Schraeder. She married Lawrence Reed in Wilson on May 15, 1925, he predeceased her on September 28, 1980. She worked on the family farm and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and her flowers. She is survived by four children, Donna Pettit of Wilson, Elvina Scuik of Niagara Falls, NY, Shirley (Kenneth) Beyer of Lockport and Larry (Diane) Reed of Wilson; one sister, Laura Payne of Lockport and 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 20943 | Niagara Gazette - 7/5/1934 LOCKPORT, July 6.-Following the death, late yesterday, of Earl H. Bull, 30, of Millersport, in the City hospital here from typhoid fever, Dr. Lyman H. Wheeler, health officer of the town of Lockport, today advised residents of the town to boll all well and cistern water used for drinking and dishwashing purposes as a precaution. Dr. Wheeler said that, while there are no other known cases of typhoid ln the town, wells and cisterns are Unusually low, due to-the dry season, thus increasing tne danger from contamination. A sample of the water from the well at the Bull home has been taken for analysis but no report has been received. Bull was born in the town of Lockport And had been employed for the past 12 years at the Upson plant here. He leaves his wife, Dorothy Bull, and two children, Gerald and Geraldine; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bull, and one sister, Hazel Bull. All of Mlddleport. Special muscial selections by Miss Delores Herbst, cousin of the bride, provided the musical setting for the service. Immediately preceding the ceremony, Ronald Gotts, also cousin of the bride, sang.
