22001 | Niagara Gazette - 9/22/1922 Frank Wadsworth Bickford, 33 years old, one of Wilson's- most popular and best known young men, died at his home on the Town Line road Saturday with heart disease after an illness of only five days. He was an active mem- ber of the local Presbyterian church, being deacon, elder, trustee and treas- urer of that church at the time of his death. He was an active advocate of every good cause. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Evelyn Eliza- beth Carrigan, two sons, Franklin Ed- gar and Lee Wadsworth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Edgar Bickford; two sisters, Mrs. George H. Upton and Mrs. Lenson Stevens of Wilson and one brother, Glenn Bickford of Akron, Ohio. The funeral which was largely attend- ed, was held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Weber became the bride of Mr. Gerald Brydges at an impressive ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weber, of Thirty-sixth street. The bridegroom Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brydges, of Wil- low avenue. The Rev. Arthur Schmoyer officiated at the service. Beautiful flowers were used to decorate the entire house. The bride wore a becoming gown of loganberry chiffon velvet with gold accessories. With this she wore a corsage of pale peach rose buds, gardenias and baby's breath. Miss Jean McLellan, maid of honor and only attendant, wore a blue chiffon velvet gown with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink rose buds and mixed garden flowers. Mr. John Seranni was the best man. The bride's mother wore a gown of blue print and the mother of the bridegroom chose a gown of rose crepe. Immediately following the cere- mony there was a reception and wedding supper. The bride's table was centered with a three-tier wed- ding cake topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom. Born In Lockport. a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Long, Mr. Long came to this city with his parents when a child. He was 58 years old. In his youth and early manhood he was prominent in athletics In this city and throughout the Niagara Frontier. He was a member of the old Stars and Stripes Athletic club and played outfield with the club's baseball team and was also active in Its football team and track team. He was a member of the old 43d Seperate aompany. Mr. Long was a member of Niagara Falls Lodge, NO. 342. B. P. O. Elks. During his long residence in this city he had teen active In many civic and athletic enterprises. He had been In failing health for some time past. 22009 | Niagara Gazette - 9/22/1947 F. W. STRICKER, VETERAN OFFICIAL, IS DEAD AT 64 Funeral Services for Public Service Department Head To Be Held Wednesday. Funeral services for Frederick W. Strieker, 64, of 1357 Linwood avenue, superintendent of public service in this city, who died at 9:30 o'clock last night In Memorial hospital, will be held Wednesday at the family home at 2 p.m. Mr. Stricker a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, and a public office holder for 41 years, succumbed to a second stroke late yesterday after- noon. He was first stricken with a cerebral hemmorrhage Thursday and was rushed to the hospital, where his condition grew steadily worse. Death came slightly more than two months before Mr. Stricker was scheduled to retire from public life on January 1. 33 Years in City's Service A conscientious public employee, mr. Sticker spent 33 years in the city 's service and was deputy super- intendent of Public Service depart- ment since 1924, being appointed superintendent in January, 1946. Mr. Strieker began his career as foreman In the city highway department in 1906, when automobiles were a rare sight and many of the city's streets were unpaved. 22019 | Niagara Gazette - 9/23/1940 Frederick after Skurski, Mishap in ter Road. 19, Dies Porter Road Injured in an automobile mishap in Porter road, Town of Niagara, early Saturday evening, Frederick Skurski. 19 years old, of the Swan road, Ransomville, died a short time later In Memorial hospital, this city. The case was Investigated by Dr. Harry R. Ernes,, state police and Constable Wilbur Towers. Death was due to a fractured skull and internal Injuries resulting from a crushed chest. Skurski was driving a light truck east In Porter road when the accident accurred according to the trooper's report. The truck apparently went out of control, swerved into the ditch and then struck a telephone pole, breaking it off, before it rolled over on its side. Skurski was thrown clear. Hutchinson, Rochester, one of the principal beneficiaries under the will of. the late George Eastman, multimillionaire Kodak magnate of Rochester, Is well-known in this city, where she has several relatives and at one time lived with her uncle, John Whitney, and his family on the Lockport road, .about two and one-half miles east of Hyde Park boulevard. She came to this locality from the Middle West, .where she was born. Mrs. Hutchinson is a daughter of the late Ami Whitney, brother of John Whitney. Her parents died when she was quite young and she made her home for., a-few years with her uncle and his family on the Lockport road. She studied stenography and business administration in Buffalo and later went to Rochester, where. she lived with friends and entered the employ, of the Eastman Kodak company, working up to the position of private secretary to the" founder and head of the company, George Eastman. She held this position at the time of Mr. Eastman's death. According to'Mr. Eastman's will, Mrs. Hutchinson was bequeathed $100,573. represented by $100,000 bonds of Jersey City, N. J., with accrued interest. She also was left a trust fund out of which she was Instructed to pay $20.- 000 to the organization promoting the 13-month calendar and finance the care of a second cousin of the philanthropist now living in Los Angeles and the education, of two sons of another cousin. Mrs. Hutchinson now lives with her husband, Charles F. Hutchinson, in luxury in Rochester," in a handsome residence not far from the Eastman home, in contrast to the modest farm homes she knew when a girl In Michigan and Ohio and while a resident of the Niagara district.
