31151 Todd Raymond Kaiser passed away suddenly at home August 1st, 2023. Born May 14th, 1962 in Lockport, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Pamela (Puff) Kaiser. She cherished all their years together. He leaves behind special children whom he regarded as his own Ciara, Sylvannah, Chaisey, Chanler, Jayden, and Erin. Wonderful brother-in-law to Patti (Kris) Puff, Kathy (John) Cogovan, and Angela (Mary) Puff Loving mother in law Joan Puff Uncle to Nicole Puff, Michelle Haentges, Jeremy and Kerri Kaiser, and Jeremy and Ashley Cogovan Brother to Randy (Tracy) Kaiser and many great nieces and nephews. Preceeded by parents Ron and Audrey (Whiticher) Kaiser and father in law Norman Puff.
Todd grew up and lived on Hoover Parkway, he had many fond memories with childhood friends and neighbors. He loved his neighborhood. Todd attended LHS where he was an exceptional soccer player who would kick the ball from one end of the field to the other. He was a legendary musician. Playing base guitar for many popular bands eventually taking his career to Boston. He had his own recording studio “Diamond Dog Studios” here in Lockport. He owned Kaiser Tile and K-TNT. He loved bowling and was taught at the age of 7 by Allie Brandt. His other passions were boating, driving his Super Bee and his motorcycles, and playing golf. Most of all he loved making memories at “the property”. He’ll be missed by so many cherished friends and family and especially his loving wife.

31152 Tom Karkau passed away on Friday April 30, 2021 following a brief illness. He was born in North Tonawanda on February 1, 1948, the son of the late Donald and Betty (Turner) Karkau.
Tom was a graduate of Niagara University and worked for the Western New York Law Center.
He liked working with the latest technology, an amateur videographer, he created videos for NTHS Drama Club performances and the choral department’s Cabarets. He always found working with the kids to be rewarding and fun.
Tom took pleasure in spending time with his wife, camping, walking, going out for dinner or just talking and sharing life’s ups and downs. He adored his children and delighted in their accomplishments. He felt it was a blessing to spend time with his 5 granddaughters, taking them on adventures or just hanging out.
Beloved husband of Theresa (nee Wasieczko) Karkau; loving father of Sandra Karkau-Coffta and Andrew (Kristen) Karkau; devoted grandfather of Charlotte, Evelyn and Olivia Coffta, Norah, and Marie Karkau; brother of Jill Karkau; brother-in-law of Paul (Paula) Wasieczko, late George (Debbie) Wasieczko and Ann (Steve) Heuer; also survived by loving nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday May 15th, 2021 in the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda from 11 am to 1 PM.

31155 Tompkins, Henry S., was born February 3, 1848, at Niagara Falls, N. Y., and is a son of the late Samuel Tompkins of that place. Henry S. Tompkins attended the public schools of his native town, until twenty years of age, when he entered the works of his father at La Salle to learn the manufacture of building brick, which he has chosen for his life vocation. He is also engaged in farming and fruit growing, owning a farm of fifty acres adjoining his brick kiln and works, and has a large orchard of 1,100 finely grafted fruit trees. Mr. Tompkins is a man of sterling worth, and has been eminently successful in his business operations. He has served the town of Niagara, where his business is located, for many years in various capacities, having been a justice of the peace for nineteen years, and was elected supervisor of his township in 1895 to serve for two years, and re-elected in 1897 for the same period of time. He has also served as assessor for three years, and as a member of the Board of School Trustees for twenty-five years, and justly deserves the high esteem in which he is held by his townsmen. Of Tonawanda, NY, born August 28, 1977. Died April 20, 2018, from complications after surgery. Survived by her parents, Timothy Y. and Linda (Shaffer) Tomsen; a brother, Timothy J. Tomsen; a beloved cat, Odo; her aunts, Bonnie Lemke, Connie (Fred) Robinson, Barbara (Bill) Jakobi, Margot Tomsen, Peter (Kim) Tomsen, Ann Tomsen, and many cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Justus and Margaret Tomsen and Gerald and Mary Shaffer, and her uncles, Jim Tomsen, Jon Tomsen, and Roger Lemke. Laura loved her family and remembered each of them by calling on their birthdays and singing Happy Birthday. If she met you once and you told her your birthday, she would never forget it. She also had loving nicknames for her favorite people. She loved going on the WNY Paranormal Society's outings and to Bandits' and Sabres' games. She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan though, much to her Dad's consternation. She loved country music and went to many concerts in the area. Laura was an upbeat positive person who would always see the bright side of things. Laura was a certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Buffalo Veterans Hospital. She was a US Navy Veteran. A Memorial Service to celebrate Laura's life will be held at the Church of the Nativity, United Church of Christ, 1530 N. Colvin Blvd., on Thursday at 7:00 pm. Maerten, 78, of 646 Emerson Dr., Eggersville, a former resident of this city, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 1969) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Buffalo, after a long illness. Mr. Maerten, a lifelong resident of this area, was formerly employed as a piano tuner. He was a veteran of World War I in France with the U.S. Army. Salefske, she was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Surviving are four sons, William, Charles, Frederick and Harold Salefske; a daughter, Mrs. E. C. Metzloff and a sister, Mrs. Fred Hahn, all of the Tonawandas, and a brother, John Washleske of Albany. Rites will be held Friday at 2:30 p. m. in the late residence. The Rev. Herman B. Miller will officiate and burial will be in Friedens cemetery.

Mrs. Follendorf rites tomorrow.
Services for Mrs. Eleanor L. Follendorf, 65, of 374 Old Niagara Falls Blvd., who died Saturday afternoon, will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Wattengel Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl K. Marks. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery. Mrs. Follendorf was fatally stricken in her home. A fire dept inhalator squad tried to revive her by administering oxygen, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at Degraff Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Follendorf was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and a member of Friedens United Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, William F. Follendorf; two brothers, William and George Otterstein, both of North Tonawanda, and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Niese of North Tonawanda, and Mrs. Leroy Kemp of Amherst.

Following a lingering illness in the DeGraff Memorial hospital, Herman C. Mittlestaedt, 35 years of age, died late yesterday afternoon. He lived in the town of Wheatfield in the Shawnee road and had resided in the same locality all his life.
He was a farmer. Besides his wife, Ella, there are two sons, Paul and Arthur of the town of Wheatfield; two brothers, Charles Jr., also of the town of Wheatfield and
William of Pendelton; two sisters. Mrs. John Martin of Martinsville and Mrs. Philip Broecker of Wheatfield and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mittelstaedt, also of Wheatfield, who survive. Funeral services will be held at the late home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and from St. Paul's church at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be at St Paul's cemetery

Mrs. Wilhelmina Karkow, 72, died yesterday morning at her home, 2 Duluth avenue, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Karkow was born in Germany. At the age of three, she came to America to live. The last forty years of her life were spent in the Tonawandas. Surviving are a husband, William Karkow, one daughter, Mrs. Mandus Camp, two sons, Charles and Fred Benz, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, all of the Tonawandas; two sisters, Mrs. E. H. Holway of Belleville, N. J., and Mrs. Ernest C. Berndt of Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home of Mr. Camp, 152 Sweeney street, Rev. Carl Frankenstein officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery.

Arnold W. Proefrock, 93, of the Town of Wheatfield, Friday (July 21, 1995) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Proefrock was a former thirty-five year old employee of Bell Aircraft, retiring in 1964 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He was the husband of the late Margaret (nee Pfanner) Proefrock.

He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Paul) Chapman of the Town of Wheatfield and Sally (John) Ferguson of the Town of Amherst; a son, Robert (Mary) Proefrock of the Town of Wheatfield; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver Street at Ward Road in North Tonawanda, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. NORTH TONAWANDA-Lynn D Griffis, 69, of 19 Lockport Ave., died Sunday (Aug. 11, I968) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after suffering an apparent heart attack., He was a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas and formerly WAC employed as a guard at the Wurlitzer Co., retiring four years ago. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Leona Wilke, died in 1967. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. James Montgomery and Mrs. Norman Waiters, both of the Town of Tonawanda, and Mrs. Harold Harning of Kenmore, and several nieces and nephews.

Miss Ziemendorf was a former student of North Tonawanda High School. Besides her parents, she is survived by a sister Elizabeth and two brothers, William and Lloyd. Louis F. Haseley, Pendleton resident, succumbs at 85
Louis F. Haseley, who would have celebrated his 86th birthday July 30, died yesterday in Lockport Memorial Hospital. Mr Haseley lived at 419H Lockport Road. He was a long-time Niagara County resident. Mr and Mrs Haseley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 29, 19B7, the same year in which he became 80 years old. His birthday then was an occasion for a family reunion, with four of their six children returning from abroad and various parts of the country for the celebration. In addition to his wife, Mr Haseley is survived by two sons, Gordon Haseley of Pendleton and the Rev. Louis C Haseley of Valley Stream, L.I.; and four daughters, Lydia Haseley of Lockport, Mrs. Ihsan Hijazi of Beirut, Lebanon; Mabel Haseley of Chicago, and Mrs Wayne Berger of Kansas City, Mo He was the brother of Erie J Haseley of the Town of Niagara and Mrs Hugo Walck of the Town of Wheatfield Sixteen grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore. the Rev Harold L, Baum officiating. Mabel B. Breitenbach, 84, of North Tonawanda, died Wednesday (December 25, 2002) in Wedgewood Healthcare Center. Mrs. Breitenbach was born on January 13, 1918 in North Tonawanda to Fred (Emma Voelker) Mittelstaedt. She was the wife of the late Walter Breitenbach. Her three brothers predeceased Mrs. Breitenbach. She was a life long resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and a member of the Friendship Club. Mrs. Breitenbach is survived by her three children Judith (Thomas) Cribbs, North Tonawanda, Sharon (Marvin) Liedy, Kenmore, Nancy (Edward) Pipalski, North Tonawanda, grandmother of Thomas Cribbs, Cynthia (Herbert) Crossley, Steven, Brian Liedy, Jeffrey (Linda) Papke, Susan (Dann) Nadeau, Edward (Trish) Pipalski, Jr. A lso surviving are several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. E.; the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent association, the Gratwick Hose company, the Firemen's association of the North Tonawanda fire department and the Wheatfield Benevolent association. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haseley; three brothers, Albert, Otto and Edward Haseley, and three sisters, Mrs Fred Glawf, Mrs. Plumsteel, and Mrs. Harry Wilson, all of North Tonawanda. The Gratwick Hose Company has called a special meeting this evening at the company quarters on Felton street to make arrangements for the funeral.

Louis Gath, sixty-seven years old, a well-known Gratwlck resident, died at the General hospital in Buffalo last night, where he underwent an operation ten days ago. He was born in Germany and came to America, locating in North Tonawanda, some fiftyfive years ago. He was a wagon maker by occupation. Surviving are three sons, Fred, Louis and Edward Gath; four daughters, Mrs. John Doebler, Mrs. John Hermann and the Misses Jessie and Grace Gath and one brother, Fred Gath, of Michigan. The body was brought to the family home at No. 46 Felton Street this morning where the funeral will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and a half hour later from the St. Mark's church, on Washington street, the Rev. Martin Hemann officiating. Buiral will be made in Elmlawn.

Edward C. Kuhn who served for 30 years with the Coast Artillery, United States Army, died early today at his home 587 Falls Blvd. after a long illness. A native of North Tonawanda, Mr. kuhn fought in two wars, The Spanish American War and World War I. Mr. Kuhn was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church and of it'd Men's Club. After his return from the Army, he was for many years the superintendent of the church cemetery. he is survived by his wife Julia, nee Krull, four brothers, Leonard and Louis Kuhn of Buffalo, William Kuhn of Lockport, and Frederick of Tonawanda, five sisters, Mrs. Louis Steck, Mrs. Ella Steiger, Buffalo, Mrs. William Miller, Mrs. Gustav Sahr and Mrs. Walter Gillman, North Tonawanda.
