He was born in Linden on September 9, 1880, the son of Oscar M. and Mary Eastland Blood and in 1904 he married Beu- lah Monroe who survive him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. John Wheeler of Springfield, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Kidder of Alexander and Miss Mary J Blood of Rochester. Brass, born and educated in Strykersville died suddenly, Sunday, Jan. 24, 1960 at Mercy Hospital after suffering a heart attack, while attending the 8:30 service at the Immaculate Conception church, East Aurora. A veteran of Wbrld War 1. Mr. Brass served as a Sergeant with the 77th Division in France and he was a member of Strykersville Post 637, American Legion. Honorary member of East Aurora Post 362, American Legion and a Past President of the Posts Last Mans Club composed of World War 1 veterans. > __ Mr. Brass was a "menSber-of Ar cade Barracks 1408, Veterans of World War 1 East Aurora Lodge 370 Loyal Order of Moose and a past president of the Immacu late Conception Holy Name Society For, many years Mr. Brass was memorial Day parade marshall and at the impressive closing cer emonies at Oakwood cemetery he was delegated to raise the Flag to Full-mast as the East Aurora High School band played the na- tional anthem. Mr. Brass was a son of Frank and Elizabeth Brass born Oct. 26, 1894 in Strykersville, where the Brass family lived as the father Frank Brass ran a black smith shop, who many will remember the trfiop, doing horse shoeing and all repair worki, Albert became associated with W. A. Kelver Studebaker Agency at 765 Main St., East Aurora as Service manager in 1920 and continued in that position until his' death. Before becoming service manager 40 years ago he dp erated the star mail route for sev eral years between East Aurora and North Java. Billings against Elijah Billings of Castile an action for absolute divorce was obtained late Wednesday afternoon of last week and the case was given to the jury on Friday afternoon. The defendant in this case brought a counter charge against the plaintiff of the same charge which the plaintiff charged the defendant being guilty of. After due consideration the jury found that both parties -were: guilty of the same charge and in such a case no verdict could be given either parties. Morgan, 51 Oatka St., Warsaw, a former resident and well known hair dresser for many years died Thursday Aug. 28, in St. Jerome's Hospital, Batavia, after a long illness. She was born in Castile in Novi '22, 1893, a daughter' of George and Etta Tolcs Billings. In December, 1910, she married Grover Morgan who died in 1950. She is survived by one son and two daughters, Mrs. Leo Simard and Donald' Morgan, of Warsaw Mrs. John Maniacc of Batavia; six grandchildren; two great- grand children; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Kadcr of Wcthersficld Springs, Mrs. Frank Billings of Portageville and Mrs. Walter Grls wold of Horncll; one brother, Cllf ford Billings.of Clarence. 32040 | Was called to eternal rest at his Sanborn home on April 3, 2017. He was born on May 28, 1925, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Richard and Katherine [Reinhard] DeVole. Art was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the European Theatre during WWII. He was a Chief Engineer who designed and operated baking equipment and was responsible for numerous patents. He worked locally at Acme Markets, Royale Rolls, Dunlop Tire, and Kaufman's Bakery, among others. Art was also a Master Carpenter who built his own homes and did numerous remodeling projects for his family and friends. He was a generous person, who was never too busy to help out anyone in need. He was a "jack of all trades" who enjoyed fixing things, traveling, dining, playing euchre, John Deere tractors, and spending time with his family. Art was the husband of the late Rita Ann [Rutkowski] DeVole, who passed away in September of 1999, they were married on April 14, 1945. In 2001, he met a loving companion, Jeanette Dezaiffe, who was by his side up until the time of his passing. Besides Jeanette, he is survived by a son, James (Sandra) DeVole, daughters Catherine, Madeleine "Mindy" (Gerry) Wick, Deborah Pace (late Ernie), Diane (Randy) Haseley, a daughter in law Deah DeVole, eleven grandchildren Dawn Herling, Paul & Tammy Gaboury, Lisa DeVole, Craig Kijowski, Michael, Danielle, Diana, and Aimee DeVole, Shawn & Grant Haseley, 12 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Kenny DeVole and was predeceased by four late brothers and two late sisters. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday at 11:00 AM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, with the Rev. Gaylord, sister Nancy (John) Williamson and brother Robert (survived by Sheila) Gaylord. Barbara was a life-long animal lover and met her husband Frank through her love of horses. She bred and raised quality English Mastiffs. In addition to raising her children, she immensely enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara was a loving and caring mother figure to many. As well as working on the family farm, she held jobs at Eastman Kodak, as a supervisor at Wimbledon’s food truck service, and most notably was the first woman union carpenter of Buffalo Local Union No. 374. 32047 | WATERSTRAT Dr. RICHARD WATERSTRAT, Ph.D Dr. Richard "Dick" Waterstrat passed away January 26, 2021 at Shady Grove Hospital after a prolonged illness at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Hankey Waterstrat in Maryland; his sister, Jean Waterstrat Schultz in Williamsville, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Strehlow) and Arthur Waterstrat; his brother, Carlton Waterstrat and sisters, Betty Riemer and Phyllis Hodge. Dr. Waterstrat graduated from Tonawanda High School. He went on to Erie County Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY. After receiving his degree, he joined General Elextgric Company as a member of their Metallurgy Research group. Dr. Waterstrat received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois in 1961 in Metallurgical Engineering. Following graduation, he worked for the American Dental Association and conducted an abundance of research and dental metal-lurgy at the National Bureau of Standards in Washington, DC. The work that he performed on metallic superconductors at the Naval Research Laboratory led to an invitation from the University of Geneva in Switzerland where he would eventually receive his Doctorate Degree. In 1978, he returned to Geneva for his oral dissertation and was awarded a Doctorate in Solid-State Physics. After he retired from the American Dental Association, he continued his research in Metallurgy at NIST (National Institute of Science and Technology) as a visiting researcher studying Atomic Structure of Metals. Dr. Waterstrat enjoyed airplane travel, especially during his excursions throughout Europe with his wife, Shirley, for both work and leisure. Some of his accomplishments include: 99 published scientific research reports "What's Best of What's New" medal from Popular Science Magazine Introduced the use of dental amalgam fillings made form spherical alloy powders and produced the first prevision dental castings of pure titanium. Developed the bio-compatible alloy with extraordinary resistance to fracture and wear, which has the unusual ability to toughen itself against propagation of cracks that would normally cause cracks and wear to the replacement.
