The altar of Salem Evangelical
and Reformed Church was adorned
with a profusion of white
gladioli and palms, and white satin
ribbon and gladioli marked the
family pews at 4 p.m. August 28,
for the marriage of Miss Dorothy
J. Schad to Howard G. Andres.
Miss Schad is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Schad, and Mr.
Andres is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
William Andres of Tonawanda.
The Rev. Clarence Braun of
North Tonawanda united the couple
in a double ring ceremony. A
short organ recital was played by
Mrs. Evelyn Cary Miller and Theron
Miller, soloist, sang "Because".
°Through the Years" and "The
Lord's Prayer."
A portrait gown of marquisette
was worn by the bride. Fashioned
with long, pointed sleeves and a
tight bodice, the gown was made
with a cathedral length train of
ruffles. Her veil was held in
place with a tiara of pearl orange
blossoms, and she carried an arm
spray of white roses and gypsophila
centered with an orchid.
Miss Jean Thorp*, maid of honor,
wore a pastel pink organdy
gown with cap sleeves and fitted
bodice with a pleated ruffle extending
from the front bodice to
the hem and outlining the hem of
the hooped skirt. She wore matching
gauntlets and a picture hat
with long fuchsia streamers of
velvet ribbon and carried an arm
spray of better times roses with
matching ribbon.
Mrs. Joseph Russell, bridesmaid
wore a gown of yellow organdy
with dark green accessories and
carried talisman roses. Mrs. Richard
Kinzly was gowned in blue
organdy with purple accessories
and carried yellow roses. Miss
Cathy Jean McKinley was the
flower girl and wore an aqua
gown fashioned similar to the
bride's and carried a colonial
bouquet of pink roses.
Edwin Andres attended his brother
as best man, and the ushers
were Allan Edwards and Walter
Novotny.
A silk print dress with a large
picture hat of black taffeta and a
corsage of gardenias was favored
by the mother of the bride. The
mother of the bridegroom was attired
in a black, white, and blue
print dress with black accessories
and a corsage of gardenias.
Immediately following the ceremony
a dinner for 60 guests was
served at Hartman's and a reception
was held at 8 p.m. at 52 Highland
Avenue.
Out of town guests were present
from Niagara Falls, Rhode Island
and Illinois.
After September 30, Mr. and
Mrs. Andres will be at home at 312
Sweeney Street.
Showers for the bride were given
by Miss Mary Elizabeth Green,
Mrs. Richard Kinzly, Mrs. William
and Mrs. Edwin Andres, and'
Miss Jean Thorpe and Mrs. Joseph
Russell.
