Mr. ard Mrs. Arthur T.
France, 77th St. announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Mary Jane. to Rorert A. Matthews,
son of Mr. and Mrs.
Julian C. Matthews. Rochester.
Miss France is a junior at the
University of Rochester and the
Eastman School of Music, where
she is a member of Theta Tau
Theta sorority. Mr. Matthews is
a senor at the University of
Rochester, where he is a member
of Kappa Nu fraternity, and will
receive his bachelor's degree
mechancal engineering in June
A December wedding is
planned.

Red and white poinsettias will grace the altar of Bacon
Memorial Church this afternoon (Dec. 22, 1956) at 2
o'clock for the wedding of Miss Mary Jane France and
Robert Alan Matthews.
The Rev. Ray K. Hallin will officiate at the doublering
ceremony. J. Earl McCormick will be die organist
and R. Craig Brown, Livonia, will be the soloist.
The bride, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur T. France,
77 th St, will be escorted to the
altar by her father. She will
be attired in a silk bombazine
ballerina length gown enhanced
with chantilly lace and tiny seed
pearls and iridescent sequins.
An elbow length, hand-rolled
veil will be held in place by a
circlet crown of iridescent se-
quins and seed pearls. She will
carry a cascade of pink roses
and white shatter carnations.
Miss Emma Jean France, sis-
ter of the bride, will be maid of
honor. She will wear a ballerina
length dress of coral pink velvet.
A matching velvet hat and a
colonial bouquet of white shatter
carnations will complete her en-
semble.
The bridesmaids, attired like
the maid of honor in cobalt
blue velvet dresses and carrying
bouquets of pink and white carnations,
will be the Misses
Claudia Fairburn, Washington,
D. C; Nancy Crisman and
Barbara Sheriff, Lynbrook L. I.
Richard Matthews, Fairport,
will be best man for his brother,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian
C. Matthews, Rochester. James
Kilgour, cousin ot the bride
and Robert Ghedi. Rochester,
will be ushers.
For the reception immediately
after the ceremony in the church
parlors, the mother of the bride
will receive her guests attired in
beige lace dress with pink accessories
and a corsage of pink
roses. The mother of the bridegroom
will wear a navy blue
dress with white accessories and
a corsage of pink roses.
The couple will reside in
Rochester, where the bride will
finish her senior year at the
University of Rochester and the
Eastman School of Music, and
where Mr. Matthews is crriployed
in the Electronics Engineering
Division of Strombcrg-Carlson
