Mr. and Mrs. Gordon A. Porter Sr., of 43 Hagen
Ave., North Tonawanda, have announced the engagement
of their daugher, Barbara Ann, to Charles E.
Hewitt III, son of Mrs. Charles E. Hewitt Jr., of 21
Mullen St., Tonawanda, and the late Mr. Hewitt.
Miss Porter, a graduate of^
North Tonawanda High School, is
employed with the Linde Co., Di-
vision of Union Carbide Corp. in
the Town of Tonawanda.
Mr. Hewitt is a senior major-
ing in Soviet Studies at Cornell
University, where he is an officer
of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He
is a graduate of Tonawanda High
School.
The wedding will take place
Aug. 17.

Friedens United Church of Christ was the setting
at 8 o'clock this afternoon for the marriage of Miss
Barbara Ann Porter and Charles Edward Hewitt III.
The Rev. Carl K. Marks officii
ated before an altar enhanced
with white chrysanthemums and
candelabra for the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon A. Porter
Sr., 43 Hagen Ave., and the son
of Mrs. Charles E. Hewitt Jr., of
21 Mullen St., and the late Mr
Hewitt.
Mrs. La Verne Selover was the
organist and LeRoy Garlapow the
soloist.
The bride was gowned in pearl
white, imported embroidered silk
organza with a lavaliere neckline
and three-quarter sleeves.
The skirt was a slim demi-sheath
fashioned with a square cut overskirt
edged in silk faced taffeta
with embroidered panels at the
sides. The back was caught at the
waist with an Obi bow above the
cathedral length lined train. A
cluster of pearlized orange blossoms,
scattered with Borealis
crystals held her double harem
veil with a butterfly face veil of
silk illusion. She carried a cascade
of white rubrum lilies and
white roses.
Miss Linda Radlolf, the maid
of honor, was attired in a floorlength
dress of pink silk organza
over taffeta fashioned with a cir
clet neckline, short cap sleeves
and a dome skirt of cut-out silk
organza with a Dior rose and
streamers at the waist back. She
wore a matching horsehair picture
hat with a cluster of flowers
at the front of the brim.
Similarly attired in pale orchid
dresses and hats were Miss Ahmee
Hewitt, the bridegroom's sister;
Miss Nancy Panek, the
bride's cousin, and Miss Joan
Scibisz, All attendants carried
pink rubrum lilies and pink roses.
Diane Schubert, the bride's cousin
was the flower girl. Her frock
of pink silk organza over taffeta
was accented with cap sleeves
and a scalloped overskirt of em
broidered silk organza. Clusters of
bows formed her headpiece. She
carried a basket of red roses and
pompons.
Douglas Hedges attended the
bridegroom as best man. Ushers
were William Sheldon, David Cosson
of Bethesda, Md., and Barnard
Hewitt, the bridegroom's
brother.
The mother of the bride was attired
in a blue flowered sheath
dress with a silk organza coat
and white accessories. Her flowers
were white roses. The bridegroom's
mother wore a pink silk
linen sheath dress with white accessories
and a corsage of pink
roses.
A reception this evening will be
in American Ukrainian Hall,
North Tonawanda.
After a tour of mid-western
states, Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt will
be at home, Aug. 1, in 6016 West
25th St., Garden Club Apts.,
Speedway, Ind. Mr. Hewitt is employed
at thf United Press International
Bureau in Indianapolis.
Shower hostesses for the bride
have been Miss Radloff and Miss
Scibisz, Mrs. Charles Wythe, Miss
Nancy Lichtenthal and Mrs. Gor
don Porter Sr.
