Ava, July 1-Miss Alice Hurlbut,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Burton Hurlbut of Ava, became
the bride of James Mathewson,
Rome, in a pretty wedding Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
home of*the bride's parents. The
ceremony was performed by the
Rev. James Benes, pastor of the
Ava Methodist Church.
The bridal party stood before a
bower of ferns and garden flowers.
The wedding march was
played by Mrs. Harold Hurlbut,
Rome, an aunt of the bride.
Mrs. Lyle Traxel of Westernville,
sister of the bride, was maid
of honor. Mrs. Traxel was attired
in a gown of dusty rose crepe and
wore a corsage of Johanna Hill
roses.
The bride's gown was of blue
lace with white accessories. She
wore a corsage of sweetheart
roses. Harold Hurlbut, uncle of
the bride, was the best man.
A reception and wedding lunch
eon followed the ceremony, with
members of the immediate families
present. The couple left on a
motor trip through the New England
States. After July 5, the
couple will live in their newly furnished
home at Lee. The bride's
traveling costume was of luggage
tan printed chiffon with white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of West
Leyden High School and Utica
School of Commerce. The bridegroom
is employed At General
Cable,' Rome.
A prenuptial shower was given
by Mrs. Harold Hurlbut and Mrs.
Delmar Coleman.
