A pretty spring wedding was
solemnized in Salem Evangelical
and Reformed Church on Saturday,
June 1, when Miss Madalyn
Jean May, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey A. May of Delaware
street, Tonawanda, became the
bride of Robert J. Barry of Buffalo.
The Rev. Walter Hetzel read
the marriage vows before the altar
which was decorated with
bouquets of mixed flowers and
palms.
Mrs. Grace Dumbrosky sang two
selections "I Love You Truly" and
"The Lord's Prayer" accompanied
by Mrs. Evelyn Cary Miller, who
also played traditional wedding
marches.
The bride was lovely in a gown
of white satin, fashioned with
sweetheart neckline, long pointed
sleeves and a full skirt with long
train. Her fingertip veil was held
with a tiara of white blossoms
and she carried a shower bouquet
of white carnations and hlies of
the valley.
Attending the bride were her
sisters, Miss Bessie May as maid of-
honor, and Mrs. John Burkholder
as matron-of-honor. Little
Sylvia Scranton, niece of the
bride was the flower girl. Miss
May and Miss Burkholder wore
gowns fashiemed alike of Aqua
and pink net respectively, made
with fitted bodices and full skirts.
They carried bouquets of deep
pink carnations. The flower girl's
frock was of blue net over rose
taffeta. She carried a basket of
spring flowers.
Donald Young, of Buffalo, attended
his brother-in-law as best
man and the ushers were Donald
Hartley and Dewey Grill.
Mrs. May, mother of the bride,
chose a dress of rose printed crepe
with white accessories, and Mrs
Alvin Post, mother of the bridegroom,
wore a grey dress with
black accessories. Both wore corsage
bouquets of mixed flowers.
Following the wedding a reception
was given in the home of the
bride for 175 relatives and
friends. Buffet refreshments were
served from a table covered with
a white damask cloth and centered
with a wedding cake.
Altar a short wedding trip, Mr.
and Mrs. Barry will be at home
in 127 West Ferry street, Buffalo.
Mrs. Barry was entertained at
a number of pre-nuptial parties
during the weeks preceding her
marriage. Showers were given by
Mrs. Gordon Tussing and Miss
Bessie May; Mrs. Robert Scranton
and, Mrs. John Burkholder,
Employees of the Durez company
at the home of Miss Mary Schebell;
her club, at the home of Miss
Gloria Brokenshire; Mrs. Donald
Young; and Mrs. Alvin Post, at
the Is tier's summer home in Canada.
