Army Capt. Joseph F. Bennis (Ret.)
and Mrs. Bennis, 1288 89th St., announce
the engagement of their daughter, Miss
Mary Jane Bennis, to James E. Berthot,
son of John B. Berthot, 2743 Welch Ave.,
and Mrs. Bruce Winkworth, 436 67 th St.
Miss Bennis is a 1968 graduate of
Madonna High School and attends
Gowanda State Hospital School of Nursing.
Mr. Berthot, a High graduate of Bishop
Duffy High School, attends Erie Community
CoUegs.
A June 27 wedding is planned.

MR. AND. MRS. JAMES E. BERTHOT
will make their new home in Fifth Street
upon returning from a wedding trip to Rhode
Island.
The former Miss Mary Jane Bennis and
Mr. Berthot exchanged marriage vows Saturday
(June 27, 1970) in a noon double ring
ceremony at Prince of Peace Church. The
Rey. Paul R. Letourneau officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Bennis, 4286 89th
St., are. parents'of the bride. The bridegroom
is the son of Mrs. Patricia Winkworth, 436
67th St., and John B. Berthot, 2743 Welch

GIVEN IN MARRIAGE by her father, the
bcide was attired in a gown of white satin
and organza accented with Venise lace. The
gown, which the bride made, was fashioned
with a high crown collar, empire waist, bishop
sleeves and chapel length train. A band of
flowers with ribbon streamers secured her
veil and she carried a prayer book adorned
with a corsage of roses, baby's breath and
lavender daisies.
Miss Stephanie J. Bennis, maid of honor,
wore a gown of lavender dotted-Swisa with
empire waist and short puffed sleeves.
Lavender and purple streamers accented the
waistline and_ floral headpiece of lavender
and purple flowers. She carried lavender
daisies and baby's breath. Miss Jonl Bennis
and Miss Francine Bennis, bridesmaids, wore
Similar gowns of violet Their headpieces were
purple, pink and white flowers with lavender
and purple streamers. The attendants' gowns
were made ' by Miss Stephanie Bennis and
Miss Joni Bennis.

WALTER DEAN was best man and Robert
Niesen and Mark Berthot were ushers.
A reception was held at the Elk's Lodge
after the ceremony.
The bridegroom is an optician employed
at George Optical.
