Miss Carol Lynn Mayer became the bride of
Richard J. Bowers this morning at 10 in St. Mary's
Church. The Rev. Albert G. Winter officiated for the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mayer of Burt, ana
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Bowers of the Lockport-
Olcott Rd., Lockport. Mums and gladioli graced
the altar.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father. She wore a
pure satin gown fashioned with
a long line bodice, the scalloped
neckline edged in alencon lace
and reembroidered with s e ed
pearls. The flared skirt was accented
with two large satin rosebuds
at the waistline in the back
and fell to a chapel train. Her
fingertip veil of illusion fell from
a cap of white satin rosebuds and
leaves. She carried a bouquet of
orchids and stephanotis.
Miss Diane Mayer of Burt, sister
of the bride, acted as maid
of honor. Her gown was of royal
blue velvet with fitted draped
bodice and self bow, slashed
scoop neckline, three - quarter
length sleeves and full skirt. A
white fur headpiece and muff
with deep pink tea roses completed
her attire.
BLUE ENSEMBLES
Bridesmaids were the Misses
Lois Mayer of Burt, another sister
of the bride, Marcia Stover
of Pekin, cousin of the bride, and
Carol Bowers of Lockport, cousin
of the groom. Their blue ensembles
and flowers, in a lighter
shade of pink, were like that of
the maid of honor.
The flower girl, Mary Beyer of
Lockport, cousin of the bride,
wore a baby blue velvet dress
with a headband of pink tea ros-
es. She carried a basket of pink
tea roses. Willard Bowers Jr.,
cousin of the groom, was r i ng
bearer.
The groom's cousin, John Bowers
of Lockport, acted as best
man.Ushering duties were per
formed by Patrick Clifford and
Layton Bowers Jr. of Lockport,
both cousins of the groom, and
Carl Berry of Newfane.
Mrs. Norbert Fritton played the
wedding music.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Mayer favored a powder
blue lace sheath dress over satin
with white accessories and a corsage
of white roses. The groom's
mother wore a carmel lace
sheath dress over satin, beige accessories
and a corsage of pink
roses.
300 GUESTS
Following the ceremony, the
weeding breakfast was served to
the bridal party and members of
the immediate families at Fieldstone
Manor. The reception for
300 guests will be from 5 to 9 this
evening at the Newfane Fire
Hall.
, When the couple leaves for a
three-week vacation at Coral Gables,
Fla., the bride will be wearing
a black and white tweed suit
complemented by a corsage of
white orchids. On their return
they will live at 3960 Lockport-
Olcott Rd., Lockport.
Guests attended from Rochester,
Williamsville, Niagara Falls
and Rufalo.
Both the bride and groom were
graduated from Newfane Central
School.
Pre-nuptial events included a
variety shower by Miss Diane
Mayer, sister of the bride and
Miss Marcia Stover, cousin of
the bride; a personal shower by
the Misses Karen and Carol Bowers;
a variety shower by Mrs.
Joan Bowers at Shamus Restaurant;
a one-gift shower by Miss
Lois Mayer and Miss Seva Mayer;
and a one-gift shower by
members of Newfane Grange.
The rehearsal party was held by
the groom's parents.
