On Wednesday, Jan. 4th the
golden wedding anniversary oh
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baehr was
celebrated at their hone in Shelby
Center. On Jan. 4, 1883 they
were married by Rev. Staerker in
Wolcottsvllle, N. Y.
Their brothers and sisters with
their respective spouses, the children
and grandchildren assembled
at the residence at 8 o'clock p. m.
The celebration was begun with a
short service, Rev. C. Poeekler officiating.
After a solo on the words
of Pa. 91, i-6 by the pastor, he also
gave an address on 1 Samuel 7,18:
"Then Samuel took a stone, and
set it between Mfsoeh and Shen,
and called the name of it Ebenezer,
saying. Hitherto hath the
Lord helped us." Then the golden
wedding ritual was used closing
with prayer suitable for the occasion.
The service ended by another
solo by the pastor:
"All depends on our possessing
God's free love and grace blessing.
Though all earthly wealth depart;
He who God for bis hath taken,
'Mid the changing world unshaken
Keeps a free, heroic heart.
He who hitherto hath fed me.
And to many a Joy hath led me.
Is and shall be ever mine;
He who did so gently school me.
He who still doth guide and rule
me, *
Will not leave me now to pine.
Shall I weary mo with fretting
O'er vain trifles, and regretting
Things that never can remain?
I will strive but that to win me
Which can shed true rest within
me,-
Rest the world must seek in vain
