Altar bouquets of white gladioli, white asters,
white pompons and lemon salal formed a background in
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Tonawanda, at 11 a.m.,
Sept. 15 when Miss Mary Frederica Wythe, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wythe of 65 Ilion St. became the
bride of A1C Gordon J. Steffens, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold J. Steffens of 277 Morgan St., Tonawanda.
The Papal Blessing was be-
stowed upon the couple by the
Rev. thomas Kemp, who offic-
iated.
The bride wore a floor-length,
sheath gown of white satin with a
cathedral-length train, accented
with a matching jacket designed
with three-quarter sleeves. Her
veil of illusion was caught to a
pearl-trimmed pillbox. She car-
ried a cascade bouquet of white
glamellias and lemon salal.
Mrs. douglas Chamberlain of
Cuba, N.Y., the bride's sister,
was the matron of honor and Miss
Ahmee Hewitt, the bride's cousin,
and Miss Diane Stackowicz, the
bridesmaids. They were identi-
cally attired in mango color,
street-length dresses of peau de
soie with short sleeves and um-
brella skirts. They wore coiffure
sprays of mango leaves and illu-
sion veiling and matching acces-
sories. The matron of honor car0
ried a bouquet of smokey glamel-
lias and lemon salal and the at-
tendants apricot-yellow glamel-
lias and lemon salal.
Ronald Sully of Buffalo was the
best man. Ushers were David
Crockett and Clifford Strehlow.
Mrs. Wythe, the bride's mother,
wore a beige embroidered sheath
dress with matching mandarin
coat. Green accessories and a
corsage ofgreen cymbidium or-
chids completed her attire. The
bridegroom's mother chose a
brown and beige sheath dress
with beige accessories and a cor-
sage of beige cymbidium orchids.
A wedding breakfast followed
the ceremony for the bridal par-
ty and immediate families in the
home of the bride's aunt, Mrs.
Charles E. Hewitt Hr., in Mullen
Street, Tonawanda. White pom-
pons, carnations and white asters
centered a buffet table. Similar
flowers adorned the bride's ta-
ble at a reception for 200 guests
in the Como Restaurant, Niagara
Falls. Out-of-town guests attend-
ed from Clinton, Cuba and Niag-
ara Falls, N.Y., Michigan and
Ohio.
After a wedding trip, Airman
and Mrs. Steffens will leave at
the end of September for Bedford,
England, where the former will
be on Air Force assignment for
two years.
Hostesses at bridal showers
were Mrs. George Saliba, Mrs.
Frazer Eggert and Mrs. William
Wythe, Mrs. Douglas Chamber-
lain and Miss Diane Stachowicz,
Mrs. Harold Steffens, mrs. Mar-
garet Rogers and Mrs. Edward
Steffens. A tea was given by Mrs.
Douglas Metz.
