NIAGARA FALLS — Edith (LaCivita) Serrio, 98, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by her family, and while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Lackawanna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Leonora (Oddi) LaCivita.
For many years, she was a trusted bookkeeper for several local businesses. Edith was an excellent baker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling. Most importantly, she centered her life on her family and was very dedicated to their care and well-being.
Mrs. Serrio was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, James J. Serrio on September 14, 1991. She was the dear mother of James F. (Judy) Serrio, Frank A. (Dee) Serrio and Janet (Randy) McDaniel; dear grandmother of Mary and Anthony; dear sister of Louis (Gladys) LaCivita and Ernest LaCivita, both of Niagara Falls, NY, and Albert (Bernice Parenti) LaCivita of Lewiston, NY; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by two sisters, Celia (late Peter Sr.) Barto and Anne R. (late Sabbath) Cheff.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4–8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, November 23rd at 11:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. at Independence Ave., Niagara Falls. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
