Burns Are Fatal
To Falls Victim
Of Area Farm Fire
Harold Esslie, 50, of. 4001 Lockport
road, who was critically burn*
ed early last Sunday in a fire in a
barn on the farm of August Schull,
Lockport road, died, shortly before
noon today In Memorial hospital,
where he was taken after being rescued
from the blazing barn.
Esslie leased a stable in the barn,
where he kept two riding horses
and a dog, and boarded horses for
other riding enthusiasts.
At the time of the fire he had
gone to the barn to feed his dog
and apparently fell asleep. He was
dragged out of the building by Emory
Richardson, 37, of Lockport road,
who was driving past the Schull
farm at about 2 a. m. and heard
screams coming from the burning
barn.
Esslie. an employe of the Niagara
Structural Steel company. Is survived
by a brother, Raymond, and
a son and daughter, all of this city.
Esslle's two horses and'flve others
which were In the barn at the time
were burned to death and a car,
trucks and other farm equipment
were destroyed In the blaze, which
razed the building.
