LAUER - Arthur W. 9/4/2002
NIAGARA FALLS - Arthur W. Lauer of Butler, Ohio, a native of Niagara Falls and a former Carborundum Co. employee, died Saturday (Aug. 31, 2002) of injuries suffered in a traffic accident several weeks ago in Morrow County, Ohio. He was 63.
Lauer was born in Niagara Falls and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He received an associate's degree from Erie County Technical Institute and a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo.
He moved to Ohio in 1974.
Lauer's first job was with the former Nabisco plant, and he then worked for 33 years for Carborundum. After retiring from Carborundum, he was employed by Altek International and at the time of his death was working at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
He enjoyed motorcycling, boating, swimming and fishing. He was a member of the Church of God in Anderson, Ind.
Lauer is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cynthia; four sons, Donald A. of Wheatfield, Douglas A. of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Daniel A. of the City of Tonawanda and Paul A. of Fredericktown, Ohio; a brother, Lewis F. Jr. of Youngstown; a sister, Dianne Havens of Niagara Falls; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
