Funeral services for Harry
Martin Karcher, husband of
Mrs. Marguerite Karcher, 204
Syracuse Ave., were held this
morning at 9:30 in the Scoville
funeral home. The Rev. Morrison
Rider, pastor'of the Presbyterian
church, officiated at
the services. Burial was in
Riverside cemetery.
Bearers were Donald Shutts,
Arthur Hauler, Dr. Paul Hiser.
Dr. Frank Robinson, John Kowalski.
Robert McWilliams, Dr.
WUlard Allen and Dr. Paul W.
DeVore.
The following faculty of the
State University College at Oswego,
Industrial Arts Department,
of which Mr. Karcher
was a member for about 35
years, assisted the family in
receiving friends at the funeral
home: John Kowalski. Dr. Paul
W. DeVore, Donald Shutts. Dr.
William Huss, Robert McWil-
liams and Dr. Charles E. Shoe-
maker.

Harry Martin Karcher, 72, of
204 Syracuse Ave., a retired
professor -at the State Univer-
sity College at Oswego, died
Friday afternoon in his home
Mr. Karcher had resided in
Oswego for 40 years and re-
tired about five years ago. He
was a native of Buffalo and
came to the local college in
1821 to serve as associate professor
of industrial arts in
electricity.
He was graduated from the
State University College at Buffalo
and received his bachelor
of science degree from Syra
cuse University and his mas-
ter's degree from New York
University. He also attended
Cornell University and the
University of Buffalo. He was
appointed by the State -Board
of Regents as chairman of the
first state-sponsored course of
study in electricity. He also
served on the committee to
revise the course and is the
author of several monographs.
Mr. Karcher was a member
of the State Teachers Association
and the State and National
Associations for Vocational and
Practical Arts.
He served in World War I in
Europe and aided in the found
ing of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars in Oswego. He also was
one of the founders of the
Delta Kappa fraternity and
was a member of the Kappa
Phi Kappa fraternity.
Surviving besides his wife
Mrs. Marguerite Karcher, are a
daughter, Mrs. Linn Eldred
Mohawk; two grandchildren
two - brothers, Walter and William
of Buffalo, and two sisters,
Mrs. Ernestine Paynton
and Mrs. Harriet Jones, both
of Buffalo,
Services will Be at 9:30 a. m
Monday in the Scoville funeral
home with the Rev. Morrison
Rider, pastor of the Presbyterian
church, officiating. -Burial
will be in Riverside cemetery.

and Sunday from 2 to 5 and
7 to 9 p. m. at the funera
