NEWFANE, April 8-Miss Bernice
Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Sahr, of Newfane, and Harry
Whalen, son of Mr. and Mia. William
O. Whalen, of Lockport were united
In marriage at ten o'clock Saturday at
St. Patrick's Roman Catholic church,
Lockport, by the Rev. James B. Bray.
The altar was simply decorated with
roses, lilies and fern
The bride wore a navy blue costume
with yellow Talisman roses and pink
sweet peas with fern. Her attendant
was Miss Phyllis Oriffin, of Toronto,
who wore gray and mauve with accessories
of gray. Her arm bouquet
was of pink roses and Mauve sweet
peas. The groom's attendant was Weldon
Whalen, of Lockport. Mrs. Sahr
wore a navy, and Mrs. Whalen, a
brown costume.
A reception and wedding breakfast
was served to 20 at the home of the
bride's parents, Dale road, where
snapdragons were used for decorations.
The bride's table, where eight
were seated, was centered with a
three-tier wedding cake.
The groom's gift to the bride was a
gold cross and to his best man, he
gave tie clips and pin. The brides
gift to her attendant was a bracelet.
Mr. and Mrs. Whalen left on an
eastorn motor trip,, the bride wearing
a biege costume with navy accessor-
ies. Upon their return, they will be at
home at 406 Prospect street, Lock-
port.
The pre-nuptials, included showers
by Miss Naoma Schweigert, of Dale
road, Newfane; Miss Isabelle Ryan and
Mrs. William Whalen. of Lockport.
