- July 5, 2013 Virginia D. Ostwald Anonymous The Tonawanda News The Tonawanda News Fri Jul 05, 2013, 02:35 PM EDT TONAWANDA — Virginia D. (nee Keyes) Ostwald, age 88, of Tonawanda, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at Schofield Residence, after a long illness. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Alice (nee Vigrass) Keyes, and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mrs. Ostwald had been employed at the former Bells Supermarket in Amherst. Together with her husband, Wilbert, she operated "Ostwald's Candies" at their home on Linwood Avenue in Tonawanda for more than 50 years, and was renowned for the quality or her products. She is survived by her husband, Wilbert A. Ostwald; a son, Dan (Sharon) Ostwald and a daughter, Phyllis (William) Schnirel. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at White Chapel Memorial Park. If desired, memorials to Payne Avenue Christian Church or a charity of your choice are preferred by the family.
