NIAGARA FALLS — Anna (DiFranco) Magliazzo, of Niagara Falls, passed away at home under the care of Hospice on Thursday, December 15, 2011. She was 89. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 24, 1922, a daughter of Salvatore and Jennie (DeGiglio) DiFranco.
Mrs. Magliazzo moved to Niagara Falls in 1924 and attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1939. After school she worked as a cashier at the former Loblaws in Niagara Falls. She married Lugi J. Magliazzo in 1946, and they were married for 58 years until Lugi's passing in 2004.
She was a Yankees fan and enjoyed cooking (especially on Sundays for her family), bingo and trips to the casino to play the slot machines, but most of all she enjoyed attending her grandkids sporting events, mainly baseball, bowling, hockey and soccer.
Mrs. Magliazzo is survived by her two sons, Charles (Diane Folek) Magliazzo and Richard Magliazzo; four grandchildren, Lindsey Sloe and Mia, Aaron and Tyler Magliazzo. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (late Albert) Battino; sister-in-law, Judith (late Joseph) DiFranco; brother-in-law, Samuel (late Lucy) Maietta and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lugi Magliazzo (2004); two sisters, Madeleine (Frank) Leone and Lucy (Samuel) Maietta; and two brothers, Michael (late Irene) DiFranco and Joseph (Judith) DiFranco.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave., on Sunday from 4-8 PM, where prayers will be said Monday at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John de LaSalle Church.
