Charles Newell Allen. 64, of 553
Seventh street, president of the Allen
Milling" company, died early today
at Mt. St. Marys hospital after
a short illness.
A native of Derrick City. Pa. Mr.
Allen came to Niagara Falls in 1900.
received his education here and
later joined the staff of the milling
company, which had been founded
by his father, the late Charles
Ephan Allen, in Third street, in
1901. Since 1909 the firm has operated
in East Falls street and Eightn
streets. Mr. Allen had served wun
the company, for 45 years.
He was an honorary member of
Niagara Falls Lodge 346, B.P.O.
Elks, and a member of various con-
servation and sportsmen's associa-
tions and a member of the congre-
gation of St. Mary's of the Cataract
church.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife,
Eleanor, this city; three brothers, J.
Max Allen, Niagara Falls, Onc., A. D.
Allen, Fairhope, Ala., and C. Edgar
Allen, Lewiston; and three sisters,
Mrs. Winifred A. Chase and Mrs.
Zelda a. Welch, Lewiston, and Mrs.
Emma A. Barry, Bradford, Pa.
Funeral arrangements will be an-
nounced later.
