School crossing ; watchman at
Fourth and Oneida streets in Lewis-
ton. John E. Amsdill, 65, died suddenly
at his post today, after.a heart
attack.
He had been a crossing watchman
for about 10 years and was
once an operator on the former
scenic railway, the Great Gorge
route.
Born in the Town of Wilson, Mr.
Amsdill had lived in Lewiston 50
years and was a member of the
Woodmen of the World, Camp 43.
Surviving is his wife. Lida, his
father, Solomon Amsdill,. Ransomville;
a daughter, Mrs. .Howard
Ganantz. and son, George Amsdill,
both of Lewiston; a sister, Mrs. William
Woodhouse, Niagara Falls; a
brother, Frank Amsdill, Sanborn, and
two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the
Amsdill residence, 195. First street,
Lewiston. Details will be announced
later.
