- Dann Townsend, 78, of Appleton, passed away Feb. 28, 2021, after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1943, the son of the late Robert and Norma Cochran Townsend.
After graduating from Newfane Central School, Dan enlisted in the Navy, where he served from 1961 to 1964, stationed at Patuxant, Maryland.
He retired from Delphi in 2002. He enjoyed working on old cars and participating in car shows, being a member of the Harrison Car Club and Niagara Cruisers. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and crafted little vehicles for them to ride around in on the farm. In later years, he crafted tiny lawn ornament airplanes, whose propellers twirled in the wind. He loved football and Nascar.
He is survived by his wife, Avis, a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Kimberly (Justin) Walker, both of California, two step children, Amy (Kevin) Pedley of Lockport and Ronald (Wende) Swift of Burt. He is also survived by his sister, Shelly Stranges of Lockport, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a loving friend, Linette Pipiles. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held for family and friends.
