Irving L. Briggs, 67, of 215
W. Bloomfield St., died this
morning at Rose Hospital after
a seven-week illness. He was a
retired employe of Revere's
Rome Division.
Son of Benjamin and Fannie
Bates Briggs, he was born Oct.
29, 1903, in Boonville. He attended
Boonville schools. Before
coming to Rome in 1942, he
had lived in Port Leyden. On
Sept. 4, 1926, he married Clistie
Burgy in the First United
Methodist Church, Rome, with
the Rev. O'Dale King officiating.
Before his retirement in
1967, Mr. Briggs had been employed
at Revere as a chauffeur.
Mr. Briggs was a member of
the First United Methodist
Church, Hathaway Lodge of
F&AM, the John H. Allendorf
Court, Order of the Amaranth.
Surviving besides his wife are
a son, Donald I. Briggs, Verona;
a sister, Mrs. Flora Johnson,
Boonville; five grandchildren,
Timothy, Pamela, Joseph,
Michael and Charles Briggs,
and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Funeral services will be at
9:30 Monday at the Prince and
Boyd Home for Funerals with
the Rev. Leland W Webster
pastor of the First United
Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Port Leyden
Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 7 to
9 today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
Sunday.
