The. death of Mrs. Geraldine Tilbe
occurred at the home of Valentine
Ritz, quite suddenly, last Tuesday
morning, May 18th. She had been in
failing health sinee last fall, .when she
had a shock. Her parents Mr.
and Mrs. Annis, and she was born in
Redfield, N. Y., 67 years ago. About
1870 she was united in marriage with
Eli Tilbe. They resided in this town
in the Amasa Hill District for quite
a number of years, removing to the
town of Sangerfield on the West place
which he managed for several years.
About eleven years ago they.removed
to North Brookfield, his death occurring
ten years ago last April at this
place. The deceased is survived by
two sons, Lura and Albert, of Clayville,
and two brothers, Dat Annis of
Tonawanda and Albert Annis of
North Bay, and several nieces and
nephews. The funeral was held at
one o'clock Friday afternoon in the
Baptist church. Two of our young
ladies, Miss Sarah, Simmons and Miss
Catherine Barnes, brought in some
fine flowers which they arranged very
tastefully, as a token of respect to the
departed. There was a good attendance
of relatives and friends to pay
their last respects to the deceased.
The services were conducted by the
Rev. Charles Shumway of Brookfield.
The music was by Mrs. H. C. Burhyte
and Mrs. Roland Sweet, who sang
three numbers: "When Fades the
Light," "After," and "The Nearer the
Sweeter." The interment was made
in the family lot beside her husband
in the cemetery at Sjtockwell.
