LOCKPORT, Oct. 13.-Stricken
with a heart attack while at work at
the Harrison General Motors plant
today, Malcolm H. McClew, 62. of
250 Elmwood avenue. Boy Scout
leader, died today in Lockport City
hospital.
He was born in Newfane, son of
the late Eugene and Minnie Schulti
McClew. He organized the first
Boy Scout troop In the area, now
Included in Lewlston Trail council,
at Newfane village 40 yean ago
and remained active in the Boy
Scout movement when he moved
to Brithon, Pa.
Returning to the Lockport area in
1925 he had since held every major
committee chairmanship and district
administrative post possible to
a volunteer in the Boy Scout movement.
He was one of thc founders
of cub scouting in the area and
donated a trophy called the "Little
Brown Jug" for which, scouts compete
in their periodic rallies and
jamborees.
Holder of the Silver Beaver award,
highest in the jurisdiction of a local
Boy Scout council, Mr. McClew was
to have -received his 40-year Boy
Scout veteran award at an appreciation
dinner next month.
He was active in the affairs of the
Emmanuel Methodist church, where
he was a member of the official
board.
surviving are his wife, Ruth; two
sons Malcolm H. Jr., Newfane, and
Robert W., Lockport, and two
daughters. Mrs. Robert Gordon,
Austin. Tex., and Mrs. Robert M.
Ansteth, Lockport.
Funeral services will be held Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
family home. Burial will be in Cold
Springs cemetery.
