A Lewiston woman today
celebrates her 85th birthday
in the Ridge Road house
where she was born in 18S3.
Mrs. Florence Nichols Martin,
a life-long resident of
Niagara County, lives at 1804
Ridge Ttoad,. for a time' the
home and farm of her brother,
tne late L'. Miles Nichols.
The farm is now operated
by her nephew, William E.
Nichols.
Mrs. Martin is the daught.
er of the late Lafayette M.
Nichols and Emma Root Nichols.
She is the widow-of Ruben
Martin, who died in 1927.
She has two daughters,
Mrs. Alva Barber, Lewiston,
and Mrs. Walter Hartman,
Niagara Falls. She also has
four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
She is the great-greatgrandchild
of Robert Nichols who
is said to have come to Niagara
Falls on horseback from
Vermont in June 1816. He
was a stone mason who helped
build what was known as
"The Stone ' Church," the
Presbyterian Church in Lewiston,
between 1825-1835.
A family party is planned
Tuesday.
