- Joanne Eileen Kumm, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She was born in Niagara Falls on March 14, 1948, a daughter of Ruth (Colquhoun) Kumm and the late Elmer K. Kumm.
She attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School and the Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester. Joanne worked as the Assistant Director at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara for over 23 years. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and she enjoyed reading.
In addition to her mother Joanne is survived by two siblings: Joyce (Frank) Grenga, and Richard (Karen) Kumm of Niagara Falls, her sister-in-law Deborah (late Robert) Kumm of Grand Island and her aunt Shirley (late Glen) Barber of Sanborn. She is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews: Frank and Michael (Melissa) Sillett, Jessica (Daniel) Shvimer, Joshua and Eric Kumm, Kirsten, Shauna and Derrik Mahoney and her great-nephews Dylan Shvimer and Jacob and Michael Sillett and great-niece Kassie Sillett. In addition to her father she was predeceased by her brother Robert (Deborah) Kumm.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Friday from 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston. Flowers gratefully declined.
