LOCKPORT-A seventeenyear-
old L o c k p o r t High
School senior, William Putnam,
today lost his fight for
life against cancer.
His left leg was amputated
earlier this year. A malignancy
in the leg developed
after an injury in the high
school gymnasium. Wlliam
underwent extensive surgery
and hospitalization and appeared
en route to recovery
when complications set in
seven weeks ago.
He died this morning at
Sisters Hospital in Buffalo.
William was born.May 24,
1945, the son of W. Herbert
and Marie Bartenstein Putnam.
He is survived by his
parents, one sister, Judith
Putnam; one brother, Donald
Putnam, all of Lockport; his
paternal grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Putnam and
his.maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Anna Bartenstein, air of
Lockport.
Keenly, interested in radio,
William was a. licensed amateur
radio operator : and: a
member of the . Lockport
Amateur Radio Club,
Services will be held Saturday
at-8:20 a.m. at the Taylor
and Reynolds Funeral Home,
foHowed by a Soemn Requiem
Mass at St. Anthony's Roman
Catholic Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery
