Sixteen hundred parishioners of
the Church of the Immaculate Conception
in Eastchester, along with
visiting clergymen, will pay their
last respects to Father Edward J.
Beary at a solemn requiem mass
tomorrow at 10:30 A. M.
, The Right Reverend Monsignor
Michael Reilly, pastor of St Barnabas
Church, Woodlawn, will deliver
the eulogy and Father John J.Cunneen,
who served as assistant paster
under Father Beary and is now stationed
at the Annunciation church
in New York City, will be the celebrant
of the Mass.
The Rev. John Dyer of St. John
the Evangelist church at Pawling,
a close friend of Father Beary for
many years, will set as deacon. Subdeacon
will, be the Rev. John J.
Caldwell of Our Lady of Solace
Church, the Bronx. *
Ceremonies Arranged
The Rev. Joseph Orogan of St.
Frances De Salles Church, Belle
Harbor, L. I., will be master of ceremonies.
Both Father Caldwell and
Father Grogan were parishioners in
this community before their ordination
to the priesthood.
The Right Reverend Stephen J.
Donahue, administrator of the Roman
catholic Archdiocese of New
York, will give the final absolution
at the conclusion of the solemn requiem
Mass,
The Wry Rev. Monsignor Richard
B. Cushion, pastor Of the
Church of the Sacred Heart, Mount
Vernon, where Father Beary held
his first assignment as assistant
pastor after his ordination in 1999,
said of his colleague today:
"Father Beary is held in grateful
remembrance in Sacred Heart parish,
where he served as assistant
priest to the late Monsignor FJynn
for four years, as his first assignment.
He still is held in affectionate
and grateful memory by many of
the parishioners,, who frequently
sought reports of his illness.
"A strong and cheerful worker,
he was noted for his kindness and
generosity of spirit, his devotion to
all classes, especially the sick and
those in need of material and spiritual
comfort"
Children Attend Maas
The Rev. Robert M. Reilly of the
Blessed Sacrament Church of Albany,
a classmate of Father Beary
while at Dunwoodle Seminary in
Yonkers, was the celebrant of the
Mass offered by the children of the
local parochial school today.
Father Robert M. Delaney, assis-
tant pastor of the parish, was dea-
con at the children's Mass, with the
Rev. Vincent Jeffers, a former parishioner
now stationed at the Propogation
of the Faith Church In
Hew York City, serving as sub-
Father Beary's body will be removed
from the rectory at 3 P. M.
today and will rest in the church
throughout the night until the
Mass tomorrow. An honor guard of
members of the Senior Holy Name
Society of the parish will stand
guard in the church throughout the
night The Divine Office wfll be
chanted by 40 members of the
clergy at 9 P. M. tonight
Following the Mass tomorrow, a
police escort will lead the funeral
procession to the place of interment
at St Mary's Cemetery. Fort
Chester, where Monsignor Reilly
will conduct the burial rites.

The Rev. Edward J. Beary, who
served for the last sixteen years as
pastor of the Church of the Immaculate
Conception at Tuckahoe,
N. T., died of pneumonia yesterday
at the rectory. Surviving are three
sisters, the Misses Mary E. and
Alice C. Beary of Tuckahoe, and
Mrs. Katharine B. Graham of Rye.
Father Beary was born at Rye
sixty-seven years ago and studied
for the priesthood at St. Bonaventure's
College, St. Joseph's Seminary
and Dunwoodie Seminary.
He was ordained at St. Patrick's
Cathedral in 1898.
His first assignment was at the
Church of the Sacred Heart in
Mount Vernon, and in 1902 he went
to St. Raphael's Church, 504 West
Forty-first street, serving for
twelve years. Then he became
pastor of St Joseph's Church at
Croton Falls. He came to the Immaculate
Conception in 1922.
A high mass of requiem will be
celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cem-
etery, Port Chester.
