Niagara Gazette
NIAGARA FALLS —
Chester S. Pysz, aged 85 years, passed away peacefully at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, NY, on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 13, 1927, Chester was one of nine children of young Polish immigrants, the late Stanislaus and Teofila (Moryc) Pysz.
Chester, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School, Niagara Falls High School, and Trott Vocational Trade School. Nearing the end of World War II, Chester served with distinction in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. On his return to civilian life, Chester began his career, where he gained a reputation for his strong work ethic as a Master Welder in the local industry. During his 45 years with International Graphite, also known as Speer/Carbon and Airco/Speer, Chester missed only one day of work. Chester showed the same dedication when he served as an emergency volunteer with the Frontier Voluntary Firefighters Association for several years. When he wasn't working, Chester always carried his 2-way radio, on and ready to go at a moment's notice. Chester was a lifetime member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and enjoyed hunting, bowling, and horseshoes with his friends.
Chester developed a love of basketball as a student at Trott, where he became the Manager of the school basketball team; and he also took pride in building and flying model airplanes, working on cars, and nurturing the rose garden with his father. Chester's greatest dedication was to his family. He visited his parents every Saturday morning for coffee and placek. This same love and dedication extended to his brothers, three beautiful daughters, cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, all of whom will dearly miss him.
Chester is survived by his three daughters, Suzanne (Rick) McDivitt, Rosalyn (Terry) Hoover, and Marguerite (Joseph) Dimino; and former wife, Marguerite Bauer; seven grandchildren, Anthony(Clair) and Craig Cadorette, Rachel, Tabitha and Sarah Hoover, Breanna and Frank Dimino; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley and Gerald Amrhein, Nathan and Madison Booth, Owen Torres, and Chloe, Natalie and Zoe Cadorette. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Richard W. (Kathleen) Pysz and several nieces and nephews. Chester was predeceased by his infant siblings, sister Genevieve and twin brothers, Adam and Edward; and by his four brothers, Frank (Mary), Edward (Virginia), Mathew (late Sylvia) and Henry Pysz.
Family and friends may call at the ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th Street, Niagara Falls, NY on THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2013 from 3-8 PM.
