Syracuse, May, 25-Cecelia Rose
Beha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ambrose Beha of West Leyden became
Sister Mary Jude, Thursday
at St. Anthony's convent here as
one of twelve girls between the
ages of 18 and 20 who entered the
noviate in the Sisters of the Third
Order of St. Francis.
The ceremony took place In the
chapel of the convent with Very
Rev. Bede Hess of St. Francis
college, Provincial of the Order of
Minor Conventuals, officiating.
Witnessing the ceremony were the
parents and relatives of the novices
and visiting clergymen from
the parishes in which the young
women lived before they began
their postulancy six months ago.
The religious investiture opened
with a solemn high mass said by
the Provincial. The postulants
entered the chapel wearing white
bridal costumes with wreath and
veil and carrying bouquets of May
bells.
At the conclusion of the sermon
by Rev. Daniel Lyons, O. M. C, of
Seaside Park, N. J., the postulants
requested and received the holy
habits which they later donned
and returned to the chapel where
they were given their religious
names.
As novices the young women will
remain behind the convent walls
for two years In the service of
God before taking their canonical
vows. Their duties will be those
of the classroom and hospital in
preparation for the work to which
they will devote their lives.
Among the outstanding activities
of the order is caring for the leper
colony at Molokai in Hawaii.
