W. Bluckhorn, 53, died early today
at his h o me

Street, the victim
of a heart
attack. He was
stricken at 3
o ' c l o c k this
morning. H i s
death followed
a few h o u rs
later.
A life - long
r e s i d e n t , Mr.
Bluckhorn w as
well known and
highly respected
in the Tonawandas.
A p -
pointed superin-
tendent of public
works on January 4, 1932, he
had served continuously since. He
was to have been reappointed by
the Common Council at its first
meeting next month.
For 23 years, prior to his appointment
to the office, he was
employed as a millwright in the
lumber mill formerly operated on
Oliver Street by the late W. G.
Palmer.
Mr. Bluckhorn was a member
of the Delaware Hose Company,
the Eldredge Bicycle Club, Tonawanda
Lodge 247, F. & A. M., and
the Roosevelt Beach Boat Club at
Wilson, where he maintained a
summer cottage.
Surviving are his wife, Irene;
a sister, Mrs. Arthur Beisiegel of
Tonawanda, and two brothers,
John of Tonawanda and Fred of
Detroit.

The funeral of Harvey W.
Bluckhorn, superintendent of public
world, whoae sudden death
Saturday morning left an important
void in the ranks of Tona-
wanda's official family and its
citizenry, was held yesterday afternoon
at 2:30 o'clock at the
Hilliard Funeral Home, 147 Delaware
street, and largely attended.
The city hall was closed for
the afternoon to permit city officials
and employes to attend the
rites. Besides these attendants
the Delaware Hose company was
'Well represented bar a group of its
members.
The services were impressively
conducted by the Rev. Walter F.
Hetzel of the Salem Evangelical
and Reformed church. Burial was
in Elmlawn.
The active bearers were: Al-
derman Albert Westphal and
Walter Getman, August Krueger,
Albert Sponholz, Frank Keller
and Herbert Kerman.
Honorary bearers were: Mayor
Christ S. Warren, Mayor-elect1
Clarence Hackett, Council President
Walter J. Wolf, Aldermen C.
Emerson Hay, Willis Katoll, William
Hawthorne, Walter Schoenfeld,
Charles F. Long snd Leon
